    摘要: A food tray has a lower tray containing a first food product and an upper tray nested stably at least partly inside the lower tray, with the upper tray containing a second food product. An air permeable interface is provided between the upper tray and lower tray to allow venting of steam from the lower tray during cooking. A cover is provided for the food tray. Each of the lower tray and the upper tray are formed of a material that is suitable for use in a microwave or conventional oven. Various constructions may be used to create the air permeable interface, such as lugs, ledges and lips. The upper tray may sit above the lower tray. The trays are nested loosely for ease of removal of the upper tray from the lower tray. Various configurations of cover may be used such as a sleeve, carton or lid. The upper tray may contain the higher value food product.

The food tray has a pair of opposed handle structures (70a, 70b) and a tray portion (72) depending from the handle structures. Each handle structure has an outwardly projecting protuberance (82). The food tray is positioned within the food vessel with each protuberance resting on the inwardly projecting ledge such that the tray portion is suspended within the food vessel by the handle structures. This forms two food compartments (90, 92): one (90) below and one (92) above the tray portion. The vessel may be topped by a topping film (98).

    摘要: A single-use tray is useable to impart aromatic material to food upon the application of heat. The tray assembly is pre-filled with aromatic material, such as wood chips, charcoal, briquettes, spices, herbs, or natural or artificial flavorings. The tray assembly includes a first tray with a base and a second tray non-removably secured to the first tray over the base and over the volume of aromatic material. The second tray has a cooking surface defining an aperture arrangement to permit the flow of gases from the aromatic material through the cooking surface upon application of heat. A packaged food product includes the tray assembly with prepackaged food and an outer protective covering or wrapper. Some arrangements include a lid that defines a chamber for enhancing flavor. Methods of making a tray, packaging food, and using are provided. A kit includes at least a first and second tray and can also include aromatic material, a food product, and a lid.
