    Abstract: A method for joining an initial section (3) of a film tube (2) which is wound up in a band-like manner on a reel (1) with an end section (4) of a second film tube (5) extending over subsequent processing stations, especially a packaging system, in an at least partly band-like manner, in which it is provided that at least one upwardly pivoting tab (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b) each is formed by the placement of a cut in the initial and end sections (3, 4) of the two film tubes (2, 5) to be joined, with a tab (4a, 4b) of the end section (4) being placed on a tab (3a, 3b) of the initial section (3) and the superimposed tabs (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b) are mutually joined in a tension-proof manner. The production of a tension-proof connection of the initial and end sections (3, 4) of the film tubes (2, 5) occurs here by welding, with welding methods on the basis of ultrasonic sound being preferred.

    Abstract: A method for joining an initial section (3) of a film tube (2) which is wound up in a band-like manner on a reel (1) with an end section (4) of a second film tube (5) extending over subsequent processing stations, especially a packaging system, in an at least partly band-like manner, with the band-like initial and end section (3, 4) each having two mutually superimposed outer lateral surfaces (10, 11, 15, 16) which each converge in their boundary regions into two interposed, inwardly folded inner lateral surfaces (17, 18, 19, 20) which thus form an inwardly situated fold axis (S, T). It is provided for in accordance with the invention that in the two outer boundary regions of the initial or end section (3, 4) a tab (7, 27) each is formed by placing a cut, which tab is joined in a tension-proof manner with the opposite section (3, 4), with the initial section (3) overlapping the end section (4).

    Abstract: An automatic tape splicer includes a block of metal that has a channel journalled into it to receive tape from first and second rolls. Adjacent to and protruding into the channel are first and second pinch rollers. Each roll of tape to be spliced includes a leading end and a trailing end. The leading end includes a portion having adhesive applied to one side which may be covered by release paper. The trailing end includes a reinforced portion which is thicker than the normal thickness of the tape. The channel is dimensioned such that the pinch rollers will press the trailing end of the tape against an adhesive-exposed leading end of the second roll of tape, splicing the two rolls together as the trailing end feeds through the channel engaging the sticky leading end of the second roll.

    Abstract: There is provided an apparatus for joining films wherein a rear end portion of a preceding film and a front end portion of a trailing film are mutually joined without using a joining material such as an adhesion tape or the like to sufficiently contribute the joint portion to heat seal likewise the other portions of the films and realize excellent liquid tightness and airtightness of the joint portion itself and also tensile strength required for the film itself is given to the joint portion. The apparatus comprises a fuse seal means arranged in the vicinity of a running path of the preceding film, a film-holding means holding the front end portion of the trailing film at a side opposite to the seal means with respect to the running path, an insert plate pushing the front end portion of the film held by the film-holding means into the seal means together with the preceding film, and an extra film removing means clamping a turnup portion of the preceding film pushed over the seal means by the insert plate and separating from a fuse-sealed portion.
