摘要: For controlling the movements of the jibs of a first crane and at least a second crane mounted in opposed relation on fixed stands on each side of a handling area so that a load suspended from the two cranes maintains a constant predetermined orientation within said handling area irrespective of the swinging and steeve of the first crane. The device comprises a first movable arm connected to the jib of the first crane so as to reproduce the movements in swinging and steeve of the first crane, a second movable arm connected to the jib of the second crane and mechanically connected to the first arm in such manner as to effect movements corresponding to the position that the jib of the second crane must occupy in accordance with the position of the jib of the first crane given by the first arm.

摘要: Disclosed is an open loop control for maintaining constant tension in a cable connecting two bodies. Among the applications of the system are transfer of a load between a pier and a vessel or between two vessels, maintaining constant tension in a cable between two vessels, barge towing, underwater pipelaying, etc. The system includes a motion sensor, and a motion-compensator subsystem to generate a control signal in synchronism with the motion being sensed but at a fixed phase offset in relation thereto. The control signal operates a motor or the like at a fixed speed forward or reverse to compensate for the sensed motion with the phase offset compensating for the reversal time lag between full speed in opposite directions present in the motor system.

A VANE AND AN ANEMOMETER ARE CONNECTED BY TRANSDUCERS TO THE MULTIPLIER REGISTER OF A COMPUTER WHICH CONTROLS THE RESISTANCE IN THE ROTOR CIRCUIT IN PROPORTION TO THE VECTOR OF THE WIND VELOCITY IN THE PATH OF THE CRANE TRAVEL. THE MOTOR ROTATES IN A DIRECTION DETERMINED BY THAT OF THE VECTOR, WHEREBY THE EFFECTS OF WIND PRESSURE ON THE RATE OF CRANE TRAVEL AGAINST THE WIND OR WITH THE WIND MAY BE COMPENSATED FOR.
