摘要: A low carbon-emission hydrogen production process may be achieved by first separating carbon dioxide from a reformer syngas stream, followed by separating the carbon dioxide-depleted syngas stream using a semi-permeable membrane to produce a hydrogen-enriched permeate and a hydrogen-depleted retentate. The hydrogen-enriched permeate is purified to produce a hydrogen product and a hydrogen-depleted tail gas stream. The hydrogen-depleted retentate stream may be recycled to the feed and the hydrogen-depleted tail gas stream may be used as fuel in the reformer burners.

摘要: An apparatus for collecting helium gas includes: a first receptacle having a first flexible membrane for receiving a gas containing helium, the first receptacle being selectively couplable to an inlet of the apparatus; a second receptacle having a second flexible membrane for receiving the gas containing helium, the second receptacle being selectively couplable to the inlet of the apparatus; a pump having an inlet selectively couplable to an outlet of the first receptacle and selectively couplable to an outlet of the second receptacle; a purifier having an inlet couplable to an outlet of the pump; and an outlet of the apparatus couplable to an outlet of the purifier. A method of collecting and reusing helium gas is also described. Other valuable and/or rare gases may be recovered and reused.

摘要: Feed air is separated in a membrane system, with recovered nitrogen being purified in a deoxo unit and dried in an adsorbent dryer using high temperature purge gas. The heat generated in the deoxo unit can be used to satisfy the thermal energy requirements of dryer regeneration, without decrease in product recovery. Membrane permeate gas can be used for purge at high purge/feed ratio to reduce the energy requirements of bed regeneration.

摘要: Fuel gas (typically taken from a source of natural gas associated with oil deposits) is burnt with air in a turbine 2 to produce a gaseous mixture comprising nitrogen, combustion products and oxygen. The mixture cotnains less than 20% by volume of oxygen. The mixture is cooled in a cooler 4 by heat exchange with water and then compressed in a compressor 6 which is driven by the turbine 2. The compressed gaseous mixture is separated typically by pressure swing adsorption to produce a gaseous nitrogen product suitable for use in the enhanced recovery of oil.

摘要: An input stream of gaseous nitrogen and carbon dioxide is introduced into a first interior volume of a separation vessel that is divided into first and second interior volumes by a separation membrane that includes a metal layer. The metal layer selectively permits movement of nitrogen through the metal layer. An output stream of gaseous nitrogen and carbon dioxide is conveyed out of the first interior volume and into a reaction vessel. The volume fraction of carbon dioxide is greater in the output stream than in the input stream; the volume fraction of nitrogen is reduced in the output stream relative to the input stream. Nitrogen is removed from the second interior volume to maintain a gradient of nitrogen partial pressure across the separation membrane that causes net transport of nitrogen from the first interior volume through the separation membrane into the second interior volume.

摘要: A modular component is provided for use in a system for inerting void spaces in aircraft. The modular component is comprised of a hollow fiber membrane and tubesheet bundle, a low-temperature ozone converter, a hollow fiber membrane shell, and separator endcaps. The ozone converter can be any low-temperature converter with an ozone removal catalyst capable of high ozone removal efficiencies in the temperature range of 100 to 300° F. The modular component may further be used in a system comprising an additional low-temperature and high-temperature ozone converter upstream of the modular component.
