    摘要: A washing method of red mud that is produced when an alumina-containing ore having a goethite to hematite mass ratio of 60/40 (goethite/hematite) or more in the iron component thereof is heat-treated with an alkaline solution at a temperature of 110° C. to 160° C. to obtain an aluminate liquor, including: mixing the red mud with a diluting fluid to obtain suspension that has an aluminum concentration of 95 g/L or less in terms of Al2O3; adding a flocculant to the suspension, wherein, the flocculant includes a polymer having a repeating unit derived from (meth)acrylic acid or a salt thereof and being substantially free from a repeating unit derived from vinylhydroxamic acid compound or a salt thereof; and settling and separating the red mud so as to wash the red mud.

    摘要: In the manufacture of alumina by the Bayer process, a method comprising the steps of bringing the overflow from a multistage red mud thickener into counterflow contact with the steam generated in consequence of the flashing of bauxite-dissolved slurry so as to effect exchange of heat therebetween, separating and removing sand from the slurry by regulating the rate at which the slurry is discharged from the bottom of the column, and circulating the heated overflow and using it as the wash water in the former stage of the said thickener, all the said operations performed in one and the same column; and a device provided with inlet and outlet pipes for the overflow, an overflow type condenser, inlet and outlet pipes for the slurry, and a pipe for the removal of sand so as to effect the operations of the said method wholly in one and the same column.

    摘要: A process for obtaining molybdenum as a useful product from aqueous solutions to be purified, according to claim 1 of French patent No. 2 404 601, which contain, besides said molybdenum, alkali metal carbonate, sulphate, hydroxide or hydrogen carbonate and which may also contain uranium, and inorganic and/or organic impurities, said solutions being treated at a temperature which is at most equal to the boiling temperature by means of lime to convert the alkali metal carbonate into hydroxide and to precipitate the insoluble calcium salts formed, then separating and washing the first precipitate which essentially contains calcium carbonate, from an alkali metal hydroxide-enriched liquor, which is concentrated by evaporation at the same time as the washing liquor of the first precipitate, to produce an alkali metal hydroxide content which is at most equal to 50%, to produce a second precipitate formed by a mixture of alkali metal molybdate and sulphate, characterized in that said solid mixture is dispersed in an acid aqueous liquor which is heated at from 120.degree. C. to 250.degree. C. under pressure to cause precipitation of anhydrous Mo0.sub.3 which is subsequently separated from the mother liquor which essentially contains alkali metal sulphate.
