    摘要: A process for extracting metal values especially zinc values from aqueous solutions of metal salts which comprises contacting the aqueous solution with an organic phase comprising a compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein each of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4, independently, represents an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl or hydrocarbyloxy group or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together with the attached phosphorus atom and/or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 together with the attached phosphorus atom form a 5- to 8-membered heterocyclic ring.

    摘要: The precipitation of iron and aluminum from their solutions in strong acids, eg. 18% HCl and 25% H.sub.2 SO.sub.4, is accomplished by adding to the acid solution certain organic aminophosphonic acids in which at least 50% of the amine hydrogens have been substituted with methylenephosphonic acid groups. Particularly preferred compounds are the methylenephosphonic acid derivatives of ammonia and polyalkylenepolyaminepoly(methylenephosphonic acids). The completely phosphonomethylated derivatives are most preferred.

    摘要: Process for the recovery of a transition metal from an aqueous solution containing a complex of the transition metal with a cyclic phosphite by hydrolyzing the cyclic phosphite, contacting the hydrolysis reaction mixture with a compound forming a water-stable complex with the transition metal, extracting the reaction mixture thus formed with an organic extraction agent for the water-stable complex and separating an organic extract phase containing the transition metal from an aqueous raffinate phase. The process is particularly suitable for the recovery of the Rh or Co from spent hydroformylation catalysts and of Pd from spent carbonylation catalysts.

    摘要: Polyvalent cations (e.g., U(IV), Fe(III) can be extracted from aqueous solution using novel organophosphorus compounds of the formulas: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are the same or different and are selected from alkyl, alkoxyl, alkylaryl and alkylaryloxyl groups having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms or hydroxyl;R.sup.3 is independently selected from substituted and unsubstituted alkyl and alkylaryl groups having 1 to about 18 carbon atoms or hydrogen;R.sup.4 is independently selected from alkyl and alkylaryl groups having 1 to about 18 carbon atoms; provided that the sum of the carbon atoms of the R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 groups is at least 15; andR.sup.5 is independently selected from substituted and unsubstituted alkyl and alkylaryl groups having 1 to about 18 carbon atoms or a polymeric group; provided that the sum of the carbon atoms of the R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.5 groups is at least 16.
