    摘要： The invention relates to special structures, which may be generally described as three-dimensional fabrics, that is to say fabrics which have substantial measurements in three dimensions as compared with conventional fabrics having substantial measurements in only two dimensions. The structures have special application aa reinforcing materials in composites such as resincarbon fibre composites, and consist of ground warps in a matrix of binder warps and wefts, which three sets of components extend in three directions substantially at right angles to each other and lying substantially straight in the body of the structures. The invention also includes a method of producing such structures involving progressing the ground warps longitudinally in three dimensional array and inserting the binder warps and wefts appropriately. The invention also includes a machine for carrying out this method, constructed generally along the lines of a loom, and having the necessary instrumentalities for manipulating the three sets of components in appropriate manner.

    摘要： A fabric comprising from about two to eight yarns per inch running in the transverse or cross direction of the fabric and a selvage along each longitudinal edge of the fabric. Each selvage comprises from about 10 to 30 warp yarns and has a width of from 1 inch to 3 inches. The warp yarns in the selvage being woven with the cross yarns and the warp yarns having a denier of from about 70 to 300. The fabric is made by drawing a plurality of selvage warp yarns through each side of a loom while maintaining the yarns under tension. As the warp yarns are drawn through the loom the cross yarns are woven with the warp yarns to form the selvage. As each cross yarn is woven the selvage is held in place. The selvage is released and the fabric moved forward and regripped and the next cross yarn woven, and so forth. After the cross yarns are woven to form the selvages, tension is applied to the fabric in the crosswise direction and the fabric rolled on a driven roll.

    摘要： Woven pocketed curtain tape has spaced pockets which extend across the major part of its width. The base fabric between the pockets is woven from weft threads and two sheets of warp threads. The pockets are defined by ribs formed by a number of weft threads grouped together. The base fabric of the pockets is formed by the weft threads woven with one sheet of warp threads over the whole width of the tape. The cover fabric of the pockets is woven from the other sheet of warp threads and the weft threads over only a portion of the width of the tape. A number of tapes may be woven contiguously in a single fabric and then separated by cutting.
