摘要： A washing and/or drying appliance circuit system having an electric load, first and second power supply terminals, first and second switching elements operable for coupling/decoupling the power supply terminals to terminals of the electric load, a control unit for operating the switching elements, and a conditioning arrangement. The conditioning arrangement has a unidirectional signal flow element coupled between the first supply terminal for receiving a supply signal and the second load terminal, and an impedance arrangement coupled between the first load terminal and the control unit. With the first and second switching elements in the opened-states the first supply terminal, the unidirectional signal flow element, the electric load and the impedance arrangement define a conductive path providing a check signal to the control unit. The control unit is configured for determining a fault in the circuit system based on the check signal.

摘要： A system in which the operation of an electric motor is controlled by electronically controlled switches. The system includes the motor having a run winding and a start winding, a heating component, and a motor control subsystem. A control unit closes a first switch to energize the run winding, closes a second switch to energize the start winding, determines based on an amplitude and a lag time of a current flowing through the motor whether the motor has started and is running normally, and if so, opens the second switch to de-energize the start winding and closes a third switch to activate the heating component. The control unit determines whether the motor has started and is running normally by comparing the real time amplitude and lag time of the current to a plurality of stored amplitudes and lag times associated with different operating conditions.

摘要： A preferred embodiment of a fire containment system is implemented in a combination washer-dryer appliance equipped with air-vented exhaust. A fire suppression fluid conduit connected between a cold water valve outlet and a fire suppression fluid inlet positioned in a top portion of a tub of the appliance provides a path of cold water flow into an interior space of the tub. A valve control signal applied to a valve actuator associated with the cold water valve outlet actuates it upon a presumed occurrence of presence of fire in the interior space, as indicated by an electromechanical switch set in the top portion of the tub to measure an internal temperature of the interior space. The valve control signal thereby causes cold water flow through the fire suppression fluid conduit and into the interior space of the tub to contain and extinguish a fire burning within it.
