Abstract: An energy meter is configured to determine component waveforms that form a measured waveform. The meter inputs the waveform into one or more entries of a data structure, each entry of the one or more entries of the data structure storing a weight value that is determined based at least in part on values of the data signatures representing the plurality of remote devices, each entry being connected to one or more other entries of the data structure. The meter, for each of the one or more entries, generates an output value by performing an arithmetic operation on the waveform stored at that entry, the arithmetic operation comprising a function of the weight value. The meter identifies, from among the data signatures, one or more particular data signatures that are represented in the waveform. The meter determines, based on the particular data signatures, an operational state of another device.

Abstract: An electronic cigarette vaporizer system includes a case and a vaporizer that is stored in the case; the system includes a non-contact sensor that detects release or withdrawal of the vaporizer from the case. When withdrawal of the vaporizer is detected, then the vaporizer electronic circuitry changes state, e.g. to a ready mode, or a pre-heating mode in which an inhalation detector is activated or to a heating mode, where an atomizing unit in the vaporizer is at least partly activated so that the vaporizer is fully heated when the first inhalation is taken.

Abstract: A method can be used to measure a load driven by a switching amplifier having a differential input, an LC output demodulator filter and a feedback network between the amplifier output and the differential input. The amplifier is AC driven in a differential and in a common mode by applying a common. The feedback network provides feedback towards the differential input from downstream the LC demodulator filter by computing the impedance of the load as a function of the differential mode output current and the common mode output current. The feedback network provides feedback towards the differential input from upstream the LC demodulator filter by measuring the impedance value of the inductor of the LC demodulator filter, and computing the impedance of the load as a function of the differential mode output current, the common mode output current and the impedance value of the inductor of the LC demodulator filter.

Abstract: A switch for controlling an electrical appliance has a switch housing, an actuation element, a display, and a microprocessor disposed in the switch housing. Abstract: A short detection circuit includes a reference voltage generator that generates a reference voltage based on a power voltage, a comparison voltage generator that generates a comparison voltage that is higher or lower than a normal state voltage of a short detection target voltage by a predetermined adjustment voltage based on the reference voltage, a voltage comparator that generates a comparison result voltage by comparing the short detection target voltage with the comparison voltage, and a short detector that determines whether a target line transferring the short detection target voltage is electrically shorted based on the comparison result voltage. Thus, the short detection circuit can accurately detect an electrical short due to particles that exist in a display device.

Abstract: The operation of electrical appliances receiving electrical power from an electrical system may be indirectly monitored using monitoring units engaged with outlets on branch circuits of the electrical system. Electrical systems providing power to appliances to be monitored in accordance with the present invention may comprise split phase alternating current systems, tri-phase systems, or any other type of electrical system. Known loads may be applied to calibrate the monitoring system. The monitoring system may measure the power consumption of appliances operating on the electrical system and/or detect possible fault conditions. The monitoring system may be distributed across multiple monitoring units and other computing devices. Output devices may be used to output a summary of the power consumption or other operation of monitored electrical appliances.
