    Abstract: A self-wrapping, textile sleeve for routing and protecting elongate members from exposure to abrasion, thermal and other environmental conditions and method on construction thereof. The sleeve has an elongate wall constructed from interlaced yarns having interstices between adjacent yarns. At least one of the yarns is heat formed at one temperature to form the wall as a self-wrapping wall curling about a longitudinal axis of the sleeve. The wall has an inner surface providing a generally tubular cavity in which the elongate members are received. The wall also has an outer surface with a cured layer thereon. The cured layer is cured at the one temperature at which the yarns are heat formed into their self-wrapping configuration, wherein the cured layer fills the interstices between adjunct yarns to form an impervious layer on the wall.

    Abstract: A warp knit self-curling fabric and methods of construction thereof provides an elongate sleeve having overlapping edges for protecting elongate members. The fabric includes warp stitches and a plurality of weft stitches. The fabric comprises at least three yarns warp knit together, wherein one of the weft stitches is knit using a tricot stitch of a monofilament under tension to bias the fabric into a self-curled configuration about a central space.     Abstract: In making synthetic rope or cable, a plurality of filaments are brought in parallelism into a core and compacted by a plurality of ribbons or tapes wound about the core under tension in opposite directions to form a uniform jacket that is torsionally stable. An outer sheath which may be urethane or other plastic material is applied to the jacket under sufficient pressure to penetrate the jacket but not the core, and then the urethane is cured. The rope or cable of the invention has a core of substantially parallel filaments free to move within the jacket of ribbons wound about the core and penetrated with the urethane or other plastic material. The method affords many advantages in speed of manufacture and cost, and provides a rope or cable of greater tensile strength and flexibility than other rope or cable constructions.

    Abstract: A protective cover for rope and an assembly of the protective cover installed on a rope. The protective cover has a fabric sleeve with a first sleeve end and a second sleeve end. One or more tethers are attached to and extend from proximate at least one of the sleeve ends. The one or more tethers provide resistance to motion of the sleeve relative to an underlying rope because the one or more tethers are interlaced with the strands of the rope. The one or more tethers are interlaced along a sufficient length of rope, with a sufficient number of tucks that the strands of the rope, under tension, will clamp upon the one or more tethers. The friction between the one or more tethers and the strands prevent movement of the cover or the tethers relative to the rope.
