The guiding device (1, 5, 6, 6a) is rotatably mounted in support structure (10), in particular in bearing arrangement (L). The bearing arrangement (L) lies completely within the circle of rotation of the material, and is secured to support structure (10) via a retaining arrangement (H) extending from the bearing arrangement (L) radially outwards beyond the circle of rotation of the material, and axially spaced from the guiding device (1, 5, 6, 6a). The retaining arrangement (H) has a passage that opens temporarily to allow the material to pass through in the circumferential direction and that follows the circle of rotation of the material.

    摘要: In a method of manufacturing a stranded conductor for use in an electric power cable, the cross-sectional shapes of wires being drawn towards or through a rotatably driven lay plate by which the wires are laid helically in a layer around the axis of the conductor are so modified that, on emerging from the lay plate and passing into at least one die downstream of the lay plate, the wires of modified cross-sectional shape fit tightly together and, if present, around a central wire or a preceding layer of helically applied wires. The wires of each layer preferably are initially of the same cross-sectional shape and size as one another, e.g. approximately circular, and, preferably, the modified cross-sectional shapes imparted to the wires of each layer are the same as one another, e.g. approximating to a sector of an annulus. No compacting of the wires is required in the die or dies and, as a consequence, a capstan drawing the wires through the die or dies is not subjected to a undesirable load.

    摘要: An apparatus and method are described for producing compact stranded conductors on single and double twist machines. This is achieved by preshaping and metering the preshaped wires to have generally sectored cross-sectional profiled complementary configurations and positioning and orienting the preshaped wires to substantially correspond to their positions and orientations in relation to the core wire in the final compact twisted conductor. The wires are metered to a double twist strander which is used to initially twist the preshaped wires about the core wire in a generally loose construction, and these wires are subsequently locked into abutment against each other when imparted a second twist to form the compact composite conductor.

    摘要: An apparatus (310) for manufacturing stranded cables comprises a supply spool assembly (320, 322) having filaments wound thereon, and a flyer (316) mounted for rotation about a central axis for imparting a rotational movement to the filaments, while guiding them axially through the apparatus (310). The filaments are wound together as they pass a gathering point centrally disposed to the central axis and downstream of the flyer (316). A filament advancing assembly (16) is provided downstream of the gathering point to impart an advancing speed to the filaments. A control system allows for the control of the number of revolutions of the flyer (316) per unit length of filaments advancing through the gathering point to ensure that a constant helical pitch is obtained. The tension in the filaments is controlled by creating an adjustable opposition to the pulling action of the filament advancing assembly (16) on the filaments thereby ensuring the production of a high quality stranded cable.
