Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a cold cutting polypectomy snare. The cold cutting polypectomy snare has a cross section optimized for polypectomy. In some embodiments, the snare may have a uniform cross section along a length of the snare. In other embodiments, the snare may include a first side and a second side, wherein the first and second sides each have a unique cross section. Further, the cross-sections of the first side and the second side can be configured to couple together when a diameter of the snare is decreased to affect a cutting of a polyp.
Abstract:
A process for the manufacture of concentric compressed or compacted stranded conductors at high speed on double-twist bunching machinery while eliminating loose strand, strand crossovers, and spiral propensity of the finished product; and the product thereof.
Abstract:
The flattened strand rope of the invention comprises wedge-shaped strands, each made up of wires wound on a core. At least a portion of the strand wires are fashioned as twisted wire groups in which the wires are sector-shaped and in contact with each other over helical surfaces. With such a structural embodiment of the flattened strand wire, use can be made of thin and, consequently, stronger and more flexible wires, thereby increasing the strength and flexibility of the rope and making for the use of the rope in the various branches of industry, including lifting mechanisms with large or small drum diameters.
Abstract:
A method of stranding profiled strands comprises the steps of stranding a plurality of profiled strands (7) together around an optical fiber conductor or cable (2) which serves as a central core while imparting twist to each profiled strand by the use of a rigid type stranding machine, and then heat-treating the strands (7) along with the optical fiber conductor or cable (2) so as to remove strains or stress from the heat treated strands.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are described for producing compact stranded conductors on single and double twist machines. This is achieved by preshaping and metering the preshaped wires to have generally sectored cross-sectional profiled complementary configurations and positioning and orienting the preshaped wires to substantially correspond to their positions and orientations in relation to the core wire in the final compact twisted conductor. The wires are metered to a double twist strander which is used to initially twist the preshaped wires about the core wire in a generally loose construction, and these wires are subsequently locked into abutment against each other when imparted a second twist to form the compact composite conductor.
Abstract:
The disclosed method of making a shape-stranded rope includes twisting large wires into strands by twining them in at least one layer about a core with a sheathing of a soft deformable material, plastic drawing of the strands, forming the strands into a shaped profile and twisting the strands into the rope. The plastic drawing is effected until every round wire of the strand acquires a wedge-like profile, with the wires adjoining the sheathing becoming partly embedded in this sheathing, and the strand acquires a substantially smooth peripheral surface. The method enables, while using round wires, to increase the structural density of the strands, and also to enhance the flexibility, strength and wear resistance of the shape-stranded rope, the rope manufactured by the disclosed method being usable by various industries.
Abstract:
A multi-wire structure comprising an inner core member and one or more strips of flat wire wrapped helically about the core member. Each flat wire is helically twisted about its longitudinal axis by forming means to permanently deform it prior to being wrapped about the core member.
Abstract:
A forming device for forming links in the shape of a Möbius strip includes a rotation module with an inner path. The forming device has a widening for 180° rotation of a strip introduced into the rotation module. The rotation module has an inlet suitable for one end of a strip, an outlet suitable for the strip and the inner path extends from the inlet to the outlet. The widening is adapted for rotation of the end of the strip 180° about its longitudinal axis. The device also includes a gas injector positioned at the inlet of the rotation module intended to drive the strip through the inner path of the rotation module.
