    摘要： A flexible tension member for structural applications comprises twenty or more high strength rods (R) bundled helically with a lay length 20 to 150 times overall diameter, the rod (R) upon introduction being substantially free from curvature resulting in slackness in the bundle and introduced without flexural stresses significantly exceeding the yield point of the rod structure. The invention may utilize rods of solid circular or non-circular cross-section, or tubular and formed of metal, e.g., steel, and/or non-metallic material, more particularly fibre reinforced plastics, and results in a smooth uniform appearance, with good integrity and no signs of slackness despite the unusually long lay length employed.

    摘要： The disclosed method of making a shape-stranded rope includes twisting large wires into strands by twining them in at least one layer about a core with a sheathing of a soft deformable material, plastic drawing of the strands, forming the strands into a shaped profile and twisting the strands into the rope. The plastic drawing is effected until every round wire of the strand acquires a wedge-like profile, with the wires adjoining the sheathing becoming partly embedded in this sheathing, and the strand acquires a substantially smooth peripheral surface. The method enables, while using round wires, to increase the structural density of the strands, and also to enhance the flexibility, strength and wear resistance of the shape-stranded rope, the rope manufactured by the disclosed method being usable by various industries.

    摘要： A hybrid rope constructed of a plurality of strands, wherein each strand is constructed of a fiber center, a jacket surrounding the fiber center, and a plurality of wires surrounding the jacket. The fiber center can be constructed of one or more high-strength synthetic fibers or yarns. The jacket can be constructed of polypropylene, thermoplastic polyurethane, high-density polyethylene, linear low-density polyethylene, nylon or other similar materials. The jacket can have a braided or woven design and adds a protective layer between the fiber center and the wires. The wires can be constructed of high-strength steel wires, galvanized steel or stainless steel. The fibers or yarns that make of the fiber center are twisted to lay right and then covered with the jacket. The wires then surround the jacket and are twisted to lay to the left. This creates a torque-balanced condition of the hybrid rope.
