A method for manufacturing a profiled section made of a thermally insulating composite material. A thermoset matrix is injected into an injection box where continuous natural fiber rovings circulate. The continuous natural fiber rovings and a portion of the thermoset matrix are pultruded. The natural fiber volume ratio is between 50 and 70% and a natural fiber mass ratio is between 55 and 75%. During the injection step, the ratio of natural fibers can be adapted so that the composite material has a conductivity of less than 0.30. The continuous natural fiber rovings can be twisted before the steps of injecting and pultruding. Preferably, during the twisting step, a number of turns per meter of between 10 and 30 is transmitted to the continuous natural fiber rovings.

The preferred embodiment utilizes a key-shaped tenon on a rail that is designed to enter the lock-shaped mortise hole of the stile at the top or bottom of the stile. The key-shaped tenon slides into the top or bottom of the mortise holes of the stiles (i.e. the tenons on the top rail slide into the top of the mortise holes on the top of the left and right stiles while the tenons of the bottom rail slide into the bottom of the mortise holes on the bottom of the left and right stiles). A protrusion on the end of each of the key-shaped tenons of the rails permits it to lodge underneath a lip within each of the lock-shaped mortise holes. This interaction between the protrusion of the tenon and lip of the mortise hole prevents the rail from being removed from or disengaged from the stile in any direction other than the direction of entry. In particular, because the key-shaped tenon is inserted into the lock-shaped mortise hole from the top or bottom of the stile, the rail cannot disengage from the stile in a direction parallel to the rail (i.e. perpendicular to the stile) when the stile and rail are united to form the frame.

A system and method is provided for producing window components using polymer based, metallurgy based, extruded, injection molded, or wooden lineal material. The lineal material is notched at intervals calculated to include a stretch treatment and folded to form window components such as window sashes, frames, and the like. Internal reinforcing members may be welded within the joints formed by folding at the notches. The notching system and method provide low cost, highly reliable, low defect production of multi-sided window components from a continuous piece of lineal material.

The side walls may be formed to effect a female-male connection between the ends of two adjoining side walls. Alternatively a locking member is provided that is sized to frictionally engage a selected channel. The edges of the side members are shaped for abutment to each other with a connector in the channels to hold the window buck together. The window buck thereafter may be placed before the cement wall is formed and is sized to receive a window frame. The window buck may be formed into selected geometric shapes. Window bucks of different dimensions may be assembled by selected sides of different dimensions from bins or pallets of presized side members.
