摘要: Superabrasive elements may be produced by method includes providing a superabrasive element including a polycrystalline diamond table that includes a metallic material disposed in interstitial spaces defined within the polycrystalline diamond table. The polycrystalline diamond table includes a superabrasive face and a superabrasive side surface extending around an outer periphery of the superabrasive face. The method also includes leaching the metallic material from at least a volume of the polycrystalline diamond table to produce a leached volume in the polycrystalline diamond table by (1) exposing at least a portion of the polycrystalline diamond table to a processing solution, (2) exposing an electrode to the processing solution, and (3) applying a charge to the electrode.

摘要: 3D-printed parts may include binding agents to be removed following an additive manufacturing process. A debinding process removes the binding agents by immersing the part in a solvent bath causing chemical dissolution of the binding agents. The time of exposure of the 3D-printed part to the solvent is determined based on the geometry of the part, wherein the geometry is applied to predict the diffusion of the solvent through the 3D-printed part. The 3D-printed part is then immersed in the solvent bath to remove the binding agent, and is removed from the solvent bath after the time of exposure.

摘要: A variety of polyhedral nanocages are provided having a hollow interior, ultrathin walls, and well-defined facets of metal atoms. The nanocages can include a variety of precious metals such as Pt, Au, Ru, Rh, or Ir. The metal atoms can take a face-centered cubic structure with {111} facets on the surface. The walls can be thin, sometimes less than 1 nm in thickness or only a few atomic layers in thickness. The nanocages can provide for efficient uses of valuable precious metals, among other things, in catalysis. For example, catalysts are provided exhibiting high mass activities in oxygen reduction reactions. Methods of making and methods of using the nanocages and catalysts are also provided.

The method also includes depositing a layer of material on the secondary component and the main formation surface using a cold-spray technique such that the layer of material bonds to the secondary component. The method also includes removing the layer of material and the secondary component to form the metallic structure.

摘要: Catalyst extraction from polycrystalline diamond table may be achieved by treating with a halogen (in the gas phase or dissolved in a nonpolar organic solvent) to convert the catalyzing material to a salt. Then, polar organic solvents may optionally be used to leach the salt from the polycrystalline diamond table. The polycrystalline diamond (with the salt of the catalyzing material present or at least partially leached therefrom) may be brazed to a hard composite substrate to produce a cutter suitable for use in a matrix drill bit.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a method of manufacture of metal or alloy powders that uses liquid phase reduction of a metal halide, or a mixture of metal halides, to produce a metal particle coated in salts produced as a reaction byproduct. The reaction conditions can be chosen to select a range of metal particle sizes, and the salt coating prevents oxidation (or reaction with other atmospheric gases) and permits a range of applications hitherto difficult to achieve using metal powders.
