    摘要: A cooling fan device includes an electronic control unit that controls an engagement rate of a fan clutch. The electronic control unit executes a first calculation process that calculates an air conditioner requested engagement rate, a second calculation process that calculates, as a first guard value, a value of an engagement rate at which a fan rotation speed increases at a specified speed and an upper limit guarding process that sets a value of the air conditioner requested engagement rate to the first guard value when a calculated value of the air conditioner requested engagement rate in the first calculation process exceeds the first guard value. The electronic control unit further controls the engagement rate of the fan clutch based on a value of the air conditioner requested engagement rate after execution of the upper limit guarding process.

    摘要: A cooling fan assembly, and method of operation, for use in an engine compartment of a vehicle is disclosed. The cooling fan assembly includes an electric motor having a motor shaft extending therefrom, a one-way clutch bearing mounted on and rotating with the motor shaft, and a cooling fan. The cooling fan includes a central hub with fan blades extending from the central hub. The central hub engages the one-way clutch bearing such that torque is transmitted from the motor shaft to the central hub in a first direction of rotation and torque is not transmitted from the motor shaft to the central hub in an opposed direction of rotation.

    摘要: An eddy current fan drive cooling system is operable in a vehicle having a sheave rotating at a speed related to an engine speed. A driving assembly of the cooling system is attached to the sheave. A plurality of poles are exposed around an outer perimeter of the driving assembly. A plurality of windings are wrapped around the poles. The windings are electrically connected to receive a driving signal to generate a magnetic field around the poles. A driven assembly carrying a cooling fan is provided around the driving assembly. The driven assembly includes a plurality of concentric rings arranged around the exposed poles of the driving assembly. An eddy current torque is produced in the rings in response to magnetic flux passing through the rings from the exposed poles due to the magnetic field around the poles.

    摘要: A device for transmitting movement to a fan for cooling the coolant in a motor vehicle has a shaft on which the fan is mounted by means of an idle support, and a first electromagnetic clutch, engagement of which causes rotation of the fan at a speed equal to that of the shaft. A second clutch causes rotation of the fan at a speed lower than that of the shaft or at zero speed. The second clutch has an actuator coaxially displaceable, in both directions, with respect to the shaft, but idle upon rotation of the latter. A coupling which is coaxially locked in rotation with the shaft is connected to the actuator and is suitable for engagement with the rotor of the second clutch.

    摘要: A multi-speed drive for a motor cooling fan mounted on a driveshaft has provided a first electromagnetic clutch containing one electromagnet, and first and second armatures. When no current is imposed on the electromagnet, the clutch does not engage and the fan remains stationary with respect to the rotating driveshaft. Depending on the amount of current imposed on the electromagnet, the fan will either rotate at a speed slower than the drive shaft or, when maximum current is imposed, the fan will be rotated at the same speed as the rotating driveshaft.
