    摘要: A turbine pump assembly includes a centrifugal pump including an inlet cavity with an inlet pressure, a control section having a turbine flow rate control spool valve, a shut off biasing mechanism located at a first end of the control section, and an inlet pressure piston located at a second end of the control section, and an inlet pressure fluid line fluidly connecting the inlet cavity with the inlet pressure piston. When the inlet pressure is above a predetermined threshold, the inlet pressure is configured to maintain the turbine flow rate control spool valve in an operational mode. When the inlet pressure is below the predetermined threshold, the shut off biasing mechanism is configured to apply a closing force to disable the turbine flow rate control spool valve thereby reducing a speed of a turbine of the turbine pump assembly.

    摘要: Gas turbine driven oil lifting device for increasing the quantity of oil obtained over a specified time (e.g. barrels per day) and the percentage of total amount obtained from oil-bearing geological deposits. The device is installed in a technical column (1) and consists of sections (12) and (18), separated by a bypass packer (11), on which a gas turbine (9) is fixed by a coupling (14) and a tubing (17) with a plurality of valves (four preferred: (3), (4), (6), and (8)) that are fixed to the gas turbine (9) by a coupling (15). Above the gas turbine (9) is a check valve (16) that is installed within the tubing (17). Parallel with the tubing (17) is a supply tube (2) of the gas turbine that is fixed by at least one coupling. The bottom end of the supply tube (2) is connected to an opening (20) at an upper head (34) of the gas turbine (9) by a flexible hose (7). The device may operate continually and periodically. The device may be applied for recovery of liquids from all liquid-bearing geological deposits having insufficient pressure for natural flow.

    摘要: In accordance with the present invention, a nuclear reactor with a recirculating heat transfer fluid has a bi-level core which provides enhanced flexibility in fuel arrangement. The bi-level core includes two sets of fuel units, one set arranged on a first level, the other set arranged on a second level. Preferably, fuel units of the second level are arranged in vertical alignment with fuel units of the first level. This permits a fuel unit of the first level to be accessed by removing only the adjacent fuel unit of the second level. During refueling operations, fuel units can be shifted from one level to the other, providing additional flexibility in arranging units at various stages of burnup. Preferably, fuel units of the first level are inverted relative to the fuel units of the second level. The inversion provides for placing plenum sections of fuel rods in different levels away from each other so that the plenums do not introduce a discontinuity in neutron generation, and allows for more uniform axial fuel burnup. The bi-level core allows fuel to be initially positioned in the second level for conversion of fertile fuel to fissile fuel, and then repositioned to the first level for more complete axial burnup. In a preferred embodiment the first level boils water to generate saturated steam, and the second level is cooled by the saturated steam and generates superheated steam.

    摘要: A method and system for controlling nuclear reactivity in a nuclear reactor are disclosed. The method includes maintaining a nuclear position solution at an initial poison pressure less than the steam pressure within the reactor vessel. The method further includes channeling a pressurizing fluid into the holding tank for pressurizing the poison solution to a pressure greater than the initial pressure thereof, and draining by gravity the poison solution from the holding tank and into the reactor vessel for mixing with the water to reduce reactivity in the core.The system includes the holding tank, apparatus for channeling the pressurizing fluid from the reactor vessel to the holding tank, apparatus for channeling the poison solution from the holding tank by gravity into the reactor vessel, and a controller for opening a normally closed pressurizing valve and a normally closed drain valve to allow flow of the pressurizing fluid to, and the drained poison solution from, the holding tank through the respective channeling apparatus.
