Abstract: In a metal bellows accumulator, a metallic bellows unit is disposed within a pressure space defined in a main shell, and one end of the metallic bellows unit is fixedly secured to one end wall of the main shell. The metallic bellows unit sections the pressure space into an outer chamber serving as a gas chamber in which a pressurized gas is enclosed, and an inner chamber serving as a liquid chamber communicating with a liquid port formed in the end wall of the main shell. A stopper (auxiliary shell) for limiting collapsing movement of the metallic bellows unit is disposed within the liquid chamber and has a communication passage hole. The liquid port always communicates with a liquid chamber to which an inner circumferential surface of a bellows portion of the metallic bellows unit is exposed via the communication passage hole.

Abstract: An accumulator has a seal member retained to a port hole side of a bellows cap via a seal holder. The seal member comes into contact with a seal portion so as to occlude a liquid chamber in the case that an operation of a device stops and the pressure within a pressure piping is lowered. The seal member moves in a direction that the bellows cap moves away from the seal portion while being in contact with the seal portion when the liquid confined in the liquid chamber thermally expands in a state in which the liquid chamber is occluded. The seal member is obtained by attaching a flexible portion constructed by a rubber-like elastic body to an outer peripheral surface of a rigid plate, and the flexible portion allows relative movement of the bellows cap by shear deformation on the basis of engagement with the seal holder.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for monitoring a pressure fluid reservoir that is equipped with an elastically-shaped media-separating element and a terminal position seal in which fluid reservoir is connected in a pressure fluid loop having a pressure generator driven by a drive unit and having at least one measuring instrument, which detects a parameter representing the operating pressure in the pressure fluid loop. The parameter is delivered to an electronic control unit, where it is further processed into a trigger signal, among others for the drive unit of the pressure generator. After the operating pressure in the pressure fluid loop has dropped below a prestressing pressure the drive unit of the pressure generator is triggered by the control unit, and via a predeterminable time interval beginning with this triggering, the signal course of the measuring instrument is plotted by the control unit and compared with a suitably memorized set-point value course. Deviations in the signal course in the positive direction allow conclusions to be drawn about possible damage in the pressure fluid reservoir, particularly at the terminal position seal.

Abstract: An apparatus for providing a rapid fluid impulse which can be used for launching vehicles into a liquid medium. The apparatus comprises a ring diaphragm of coupled concentric elastomeric rings, adapted to accept pressurized fluid at an interior side. The pressurized fluid extends the elastomeric rings of the ring diaphragm, placing them in shear strain. When the fluid is released, a kinetic impulse is provided and the ring diaphragm returns to its resting position. The apparatus further comprises a central check valve on the ring diaphragm. The check valve allows fluid to flow from an exterior side, through the ring diaphragm, to the interior side when exterior fluid pressure exceeds interior pressure. The invention is useful in a submarine vehicle launch assembly wherein the ring diaphragm is a component thereof.

Abstract: For sealing between two opposed surfaces of two machine elements (1, 2) a combination seal is provided to be fitted into an open groove (3) in one of the machine elements (2).
