    摘要： A food container (e.g., tray) with a thermal reagent adhesively attached to its outer surfaces reacts with water. The attached reagent undergoes an endothermic (i.e., cooling) or exeothermic (i.e., heating) reaction in the presence of water. A burstable water pouch releases water for the reaction into a lower container (e.g., tray) when the food container is pressed into the lower container, with the pouch therebetween. A removable impervious plastic film may protect the attached reagent while in storage. Multiple reagent layers may be separated by a water-soluble plastic film to provide a prolonged thermal reaction.

The internal volume of the body is suitable for the storage of ice and a combination of ice and melt water. In one embodiment, a hand-powered pump and spout is provide through a top of the tower portion to pump chilled water for drinking or to remove it from the delivery system. A second embodiment incorporates a flexible straw arrangement through a top of the tower portion. A third embodiment incorporates both a hand-powered pump and spout as well as a flexible straw arrangement through a top of the tower portion.

    摘要： A temperature-retaining food container includes an outer shell having an inner chamber that can be filled with a temperature storing medium. The shell is shaped to provide an expansion zone within the chamber to permit expansion of the medium. A support is formed to provide additional volume to the chamber and the expansion zone. The support structure can optionally be provided to automatically expand in response to an increase in pressure within the chamber. A lid is provided which covers the container and further operates as a serving platter. The shell of the container can optionally be formed from a plurality of separate portions, which interlock to form the complete serving container and disassemble for storage or use with smaller or crowded appliances.

    摘要： A portable refrigeration and insulation unit includes a hollow cartridge with a sealed cavity and a top wall including a plurality of wells extending from the top wall. The wells are configured to receive and thermally treat food or beverage items, in particular slush beverage products, where each well is suitably contoured so as to contact a majority of outer surface area portions of a food or beverage item that is placed within the well. The cartridge cavity includes a heat transfer material that surrounds portions of the wells and facilitates heat transfer from food or beverage items placed within the wells to the heat transfer material during operation of the portable unit. The unit further includes an outer insulating case that receives the cartridge and provides additional insulation features. The cartridge is cooled to achieve a suitable temperature, is loaded with food or beverage items, and is placed within the case for use in a foodservice environment.
