    摘要: Method and devices for erasing and writing on magnetic particle oriented media are described. Erasure is caused by moving a magnetic field which enters and exits the media at a finite angle but stays parallel to the media in some region. A magnetic stencil comprising regions of dissimilar permeabilities is described. The magnetic stencil can be used in conjunction with the erasure means to simultaneously create alternating fields parallel and normal to the media thereby permitting information to be written over any previously recorded information without requiring a seperate erasure step.

    摘要: A recording device capable of writing a character on a sheet of paper with a writing ball-point pen according to a set of character pattern data which is stored in a pattern memory, and erasing a written character with an erasing ball-point pen with reliability, by means of (1) modifying the set of character pattern data into a corresponding set of erasing pattern data which permits each of the components of an erasing path of the erasing pen to be shifted from the written character in a selected one of a first and a second direction which are normal to a first and a second reference line intersecting with each other, the set of erasing pattern data causing the component of the erasing path to be shifted in the first direction if a segment of the written character corresponding to the component is positioned nearer to the first reference line than the second, or to be shifted in the second direction if the segment is positioned nearer to the second reference line, and (2) controlling movements of the erasing pen and the sheet of paper, according to the modified set of erasing pattern data, to trace the written character along the erasing path.

The pen steps as fast as it can and no new data points are read until the pen-stepping data is used up. The chart stepping is keyed to the reading of data points so that while the pen is moving to a desired position, the chart stands still.

    摘要: The record carrier allows visually readable recordings of measured values. A measuring device associated with said record carrier is driven by a drive device. The erasing device comprises at least one erasing magnet positioned directly on top of the record carrier and movable transverse to its transport direction so that the magnetic axis is parallel to the plane of the record carrier. The movement of the erasing magnet is effective essentially in the direction of the magnetic axis. A permanent magnet is used as the erasing magnet. A carrier for the magnet is in driving connection with the driving device of the measuring device.

    摘要: The record carrier is made of a material which can be caused to assume a dark state by passing a magnetic field through the record carrier normal thereto. It can be caused to assume a light state by establishing in the general plane of the record carrier two magnetic fields which are oriented generally perpendicular to each other. The recording apparatus which incorporates the record carrier is provided with means for effecting record carrier transport past an erasing unit and a writing unit. The writing unit forms a recording trace on the record carrier during such transport by generating a radial field lying in the general plane of the record carrier. Because this field is radial it is comprised of field components which are oriented generally perpendicular to each other and which furthermore are oriented at angles to the record carrier transport direction. The erasing unit erases the recording trace formed by the writing unit by establishing a magnetic field which extends transverse to the record carrier transport direction and which is comprised of field lines passing through the record carrier normal thereto.

    摘要: A graphic recording system for use with a multiple channel underwater sonar system. The recording system includes a plurality of memories, each for storing information received over a different channel of the sonar system. One or more channels may carry side scan sonar information, while another may carry sub-bottom sonar information, etc. The information from the channels is received and stored in the memories simultaneously. The recording system further includes a graphic line recorder which is responsive to the receipt of a sequence of signals for producing on chart paper a line trace representation of the signals. A control unit controls the storage of information in and retrieval of information from the memories and application of the information to the graphic line recorder in such a manner that the information may be applied to the recorder in various sequences and at various rates. This allows the production of graphic displays of information from selected information channels, and having selectable distance or time scale factors. The recording system also includes data inverting apparatus for selectively inverting information supplied to the recorder so that either so-called positive or negative traces can be produced.
