The generator stator structure produces a composite magnetic field of both constant (DC) and alternating (AC) flux. Magnetic field detectors include a proof mass suspended by deformable arms similar to a three dimensional accelerometer. The magnetic field detectors further include magnetically sensitive material present on the proof mass and/or deformable arms to cause movement of the proof mass and/or deformable arms when in the presence of a magnetic field. This movement is converted to an electrical signal and that electrical signal is compared to a reference to determine if a magnetic field of interest is present. The magnetic field detector may be included within an implantable medical device, and when the magnetic field detector indicates that a magnetic field of an MRI scanner is present, the implantable medical device may switch to an MRI mode of operation. The device may also switch back to a normal mode of operation once the MRI scanner is no longer detected such as after a predefined amount of time.

The rib and tabs define T-shaped trunnions which engage in T-shaped slots in respective sides of a rotary magnet, and a journal block. The disk is fabricated from a single flat sheet having flat tabs extending outwardly of opposite edges. A V-shaped groove is made in the sheet extending centrally across the disk and tabs. Opposite sides of the groove are then brought together to form the rib with T-shaped trunnions at opposite edges of the disk.

A resolver phase calibration system comprises a reference pulse generation unit, a resolver-to-digital converter (RDC), and a calibration phase calculating unit. The reference pulse generation unit is configured to generate a reference pulse signal based on a back electro-mative voltage signal of a motor. The RDC is configured to convert output signals of a resolver to a pulse signal, to count pulses of the converted pulse signal, and to output a digital output signal corresponding to a number of the pulses. The calibration phase calculating unit is configured to calculate a calibration phase of the resolver based on the reference pulse signal from the reference pulse generation unit and the digital output signal from the RDC.

An angular position sensor for determining the relative angular position of two relatively rotatable ferromagnetic coaxial components, such as a rotor and stator. The components have the same number of regularly distributed teeth and the teeth in one component are separated by an air gap from the teeth in the other component. A plurality of coils are connected in series with each other and are disposed around the teeth in one of the components and correspond in number to the number of associated teeth. An electric excitation signal having a measurable constant electrical characteristic is fed to the plurality of coils from a source. The characteristic is modulatable in response to variations in the magnetic reluctance of the air gap effected by changes in the relative angular position between the two components. Electronic circuitry is connected to coils for measuring the modulation of the characteristics to determine the relative angular position of the components. In angular position determination apparatus comprising a plurality of angular position sensors, mechanical connections are provided between the rotors on the one hand and the stators on the other. The angular displacement between the rotor and stator teeth differs for each sensor, the difference generally being a multiple of the quotient of 2.pi. by the number of teeth and the number of sensors. The sensor is well adapted for use in the robotics field.
