    摘要: Disclosed is an image forming process employing a light-sensitive image forming material. The image forming material comprises a support, a light-heat conversion layer and an image forming layer, superposed in order. The process comprises the steps of imagewise exposing the image forming material to light so as to increase a bonding strength between the light-heat conversion layer and the image forming layer in the exposed area, pressing a receiving sheet on the light-heat conversion layer, and removing the receiving sheet from the image forming material to form a negative image on the receiving sheet in the unexposed area and to leave a positive image on the light-heat conversion layer in the exposed area. Otherwise, the process comprises the steps of imagewise exposing the image forming material to light so as to decrease a bonding strength between the conversion layer and the image forming layer in the exposed area, pressing a receiving sheet on the conversion layer, and removing the receiving sheet from the image forming material to form a positive image on the receiving sheet in the exposed area and to leave a negative image on the conversion layer in the unexposed area.

    摘要: This invention is directed to the storing of digital information. This storage system comprises a number of layers of transparent or translucent material. In each layer there is a chemical or chemicals subject to change by being contacted with different electromagnetic wave lengths. For example, if there be eight layers then the chemical or chemicals in any layer is subject to be changed by an electromagnetic radiation of a wave length different than of the other seven layers. In this manner, with eight layers it is possible to have an eight bit byte. Actually, under premutations and combinations it is possible to have as many as eight bit bytes from the eight layers. It is conceivable that there may be more than eight layers such as sixteen layers of thirty-two layers. There is the possibility of storing large amounts of information in a small volume.

    摘要: Disclosed is a direct making of multicolor printing plates by the procedure of exposing a photosensitive material (P) of the lithographic type for making a black plate to an original bearing both the continuous tone image and the line images. The said procedure comprises (1) exposure to the continuous tone image which is performed by exposing the sensitive material (P) through a contact screen to the original in which the line images are covered with a mask (M-1) having an optical reflectance of 2% or less and the continuous tone image is covered with a mask (M-2) having a large optical reflectance, then again exposing, in the absence of contact screen, the sensitive material (P) to the original in which the line images are covered with said mask (M-1), and the mask (M-2) for the continuous tone image is removed, and (2) exposure to the line images which is performed by exposing the sensitive material (P) to the original in which the continuous tone image is covered with the mask (M-1).

    摘要: A compact optical bench type unit for making selected color-component records of color transparencies for use in color printing comprises a light source with a rotary filter disc for directing a beam of selectively colored light through a light condenser which converges the beam through a color diapositive to be reproduced and into the objective of a camera. The condenser, possibly formed of Fresnel lenses, is of large dimensions to accomodate large diapositives, and the camera objective has a relatively short focal length. Chromatic aberration of the condenser is corrected by moving the light source in correspondence with rotation of the filter disc, or by selectively inserting correcting lenses in the beam.

    摘要: A method for preparation of the final film used for engraving a flat screen, belt screen or rotary screen for a printing machine. The final film is prepared from a photograph of the image to be reproduced and engraved by known techniques on a screen so as to provide a continuous repetitive pattern on the face of a pile fabric dyed in a continuous print dyeing process.Select areas of photographic images are montaged and put into a repeat pattern within a predetermined outline to establish the basic repeat. Four continuous tone color separations are made of the selected pattern to provide yellow, blue, red and black continuous tone negatives which represent the four colors of the original image. Each color separation is posterized and half toned to provide eight positive films. The films are selectively combined, blown up to the desired repeat size to provide a negative or positive which is used to prepare a flat bed screen or rotary screen for an otherwise conventional printing process.

    摘要: A photograph of an object is made on color film in a conventional manner. Then the object is back-lighted only to silhouette it and a second photograph is made using the same film. The two films are developed simultaneously so as to subject them to identical processing conditions. Using the photograph taken while the object was back-lighted, a contact exposure is made on a high contrast film to produce a negative. After development of this negative, it and the initial, front-lighted, photograph of the object are employed on a scanner to produce the color separations for printing purposes.
