Abstract:
A data transmission system comprising an Automotive Sensor Network System (ASNS) connected to a plurality of source locations via a common bus, wherein the ASNS is configured to ascertain the source from which the data-frames and first package checksum are received and based on the ascertainment of the source, appropriate decoding methods are used to calculate the ASNS location data-frame checksums and the ASNS location package checksums. A higher order redundancy check is done over a series of data-frames to detect errors in the reception caused by temporary high interference that may exist in the transmission path.
Abstract:
A method transmits data packets on a data transmission link between two communication subscribers. The data packets respectively contain a check character which is calculated from the other data in the data packet. One communication subscriber uses the check character from the last data packet received by the other communication subscriber as start value for calculating the check character for a subsequent data packet which is to be sent to the other communication subscriber.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a system and a method for the failsafe transmission of data, the system having at least one component (2, 6, 7), which is enhanced for the failsafe transmission of data. To allow the failsafe transmission of data with reduced hardware outlay, it is proposed according to the invention that the one-channel component (2, 6, 7) is enhanced for the fail-safe transmission of data in that it is connected via a bus (1) to a failsafe computer unit (8), it has a communication driver (23), which maintains the data in standard and non-standard form, the communication driver (23) maintains a marker value, which indicates whether safe replacement values or real values are used, in standard and non-standard form, a checksum is generated in the communication driver (23) from the data maintained in non-standard form and a program run control is provided to monitor execution of the program.
Abstract:
According to the present invention, an analog evaluation circuit, the digitization and the conversion into physical variables are moved from the higher-order control system into the sensor system, and the control system is connected to this new sensor system through a synchronous high-speed transmission system. This serial real-time sensor interface provides the network capability of the transmission system and also permits simpler cabling.
Abstract:
To provide a method for configuring a field device, and a corresponding parameterization system, that enables secure transfer of parameter values via a potentially unsafe data link the method establishes a data link (3) between the field device and a parameterization unit, a parameterization value is transmitted by the parameterization unit to the field device, a parameterization value is received by the field device. Furthermore, a first test value is generated by the parameterization unit from the parameterization value, a second test value is generated by the field device from the received parameterization value. Then, the test values are compared to one another.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for safely providing safety functions for safety devices of an automation system. For this purpose, modular safety components are introduced, comprising a logic module (A, B, . . . , X), an address-dependent parameter module (1, 2, . . . , n), and failsafe information. The modules are stored separately with recovery information. After turning on a safety device in an automation system, a safety component created for a specific device can be restored and transmitted to the safety device, wherein the accuracy of the safety component is checked in the safety device.
Abstract:
Error detection codes implemented in standard network interface circuits are enlisted in obtaining high reliability necessary for safety systems by virtual testing of the network interface circuits using background levels of network errors. The frequency of the testing matches the frequency of the network errors.
Abstract:
Technologies pertaining to authenticating data output by sensors in an industrial environment are described herein. A sensor sentinel computing device receives time-series data from a sensor by way of a wireline connection. The sensor sentinel computing device generates a validation signal that is a function of the time-series signal. The sensor sentinel computing device then transmits the validation signal to a programmable logic controller in the industrial environment.
Abstract:
A highly reliable industrial control system is produced using a network running a standard serial protocol. A safety protocol is embedded within the standard serial protocol by adding to special error detecting data redundant with the protocol of the standard serial network. In addition an overarching protocol involving timing of messages is imposed to provide the necessary level of reliability in the standard serial network. This approach allows the safety protocol to be used with a wide variety of commercially available serial communication standards without modification of the media or the specialized integrated circuits used for that communication. Safety protocol may be implemented in an additional level for integrated circuits or through firmware changes in programmable aspects of the industrial controller components.
