A series of performance information is divided into plural phrases, namely sections, and for each of the phrases, the displays corresponding to keys to be performed within the phrase are together lit, so as to guide a player about keys to be depressed. There is provided a phrase dividing device or program for automatically dividing a series of performance information into phrases on the basis of the contents of the information, so that a phrase-by-phrase key-depression instructing display can be effected. All the displaying elements corresponding to keys to be depressed within a phrase are lit, and as the performance progresses, the displaying element corresponding to each of the keys to be next depressed is changed from the lit state over to a blinking state. Key-depression instructing display for keys to be performed in a next phrase may be initiated at appropriate timing when the instructing display is being effected for the current phrase. In such a case, the displaying state may be sequentially changed from a specific key in the current phrase to another specific key in the next phrase. The phrase dividing operation may be performed appropriately in accordance with any of various determination criteria such as tone pitch information and other performance information, or in response to an operational state of a pedal operator.

A mounting bracket for supporting a key movement recording sensor assembly within a keyboard-operated musical instrument. The mounting bracket of the present invention incorporates a locking mechanism to prevent sensor assembly movement and it preferably conforms to a portion of the hammer flange assembly to reduce vertical space requirements. The locking mechanism, or alternatively the sensor board itself, provides a biasing force for engaging the sensor assembly. Applying a sufficient manual force to a release member on the locking mechanism overcomes the biasing force to unlock the sensor assembly to allow for the insertion, adjustment, or removal of the sensor assembly from the mounting bracket. A keyed retention mechanism augments the sensor assembly to simplify engagement and adjustment of the sensor assembly.

An extruded recording sensor mounting rail for keyboard operated musical instruments, particularly electronic player pianos, which can be used to install recording sensors in a new or existing piano. First and second flanges extend longitudinally along the front and rear of the mounting rail, and a shelf is provided on each flange, with the shelves configured for receiving and supporting a circuit board in a sensor assembly. Each flange includes an outward facing lip which extends longitudinally along the flange. One or more clips each include flanges which fit over the outward facing lips and retain the sensor board on the mounting rail.
