摘要: Apparatus and methods for filament crimping. The apparatus includes a filament crimp element. The filament crimp element includes a first set of cavities disposed at a spacing which creates a first set of features and a second set of cavities disposed at a spacing which creates a second set of features. The first and second set cavities are substantially opposite one another. The first set of features are adapted to be placed at least partially within the second set of cavities and the second set of features are adapted to be placed at least partially within the first set of cavities. Interlock features configured for cold welding are also included. Methods for the manufacture of the device are also disclosed. In addition, methods for automated placement and manufacture of assemblies using the crimp elements are also disclosed.

The coating crimping portion 50 in a state crimped to the insulation coating 32 includes flat portions 55 extending flat in a pull-out direction of the wire 30 and a projection 52 projecting more toward the core 31 than the flat portions 55 and having a projecting amount increased toward a rear side.

摘要: A terminal that is connected to an end of an aluminum electric wire obtained by covering core wires with an insulating cover. The terminal is provided with a pair of insulation barrel pieces (crimping pieces) that extend in directions that intersect the longitudinal direction of the aluminum electric wire, and are crimped to the outer circumferential surface of the insulating cover. The pair of insulation barrel pieces have tip end portions that face and abut against each other in a state in which the pair of insulation barrel pieces are crimped to the insulating cover.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a wire with a terminal includes a crimping process of crimping a crimping terminal on a wire by a terminal crimping apparatus that includes a first mold including a supporting surface supporting the crimping terminal, and a second mold disposed to face the supporting surface and including a recessed wall surface. The recessed wall surface includes a first wall surface and a second wall surface, and a third wall surface curved toward an opposite side of the supporting surface. The first wall surface and the second wall surface include inclined portions and parallel portions. The inclined portions are inclined with respect to the stroke direction so that an interval in the width direction becomes narrower toward the third wall surface. The parallel portions are parallel to the stroke direction. In the crimping process, the side wall surfaces of the first mold face the inclined portions in a state in which the first mold and the second mold come closest to each other in the stroke direction.

摘要: A wire connection part of a terminal fitting includes: a barrel piece which is caulked while covering a tip end of a wire, thereby being crimped to the wire; a serration part formed on an inner surface of the barrel piece and connected to a core of the wire; and a water stop part mounted on the inner surface of the barrel piece to close a gap with the wire. A projecting piece mounted anterior to the serration part to position a tip end of the core is mounted to the barrel piece. The tip end of the core is positioned by the projecting piece, whereby the positional deviation of the wire can be prevented.

摘要: A crimp terminal includes an F-type crimp portion and a C-type crimp portion. The F-type crimp portion has first and second barrel tabs, preferably with an identical length, for crimping a tip end of a complex stranded wire. The F-type crimp portion is adapted to have distal ends of the first and second barrel tabs put together and pushed into the tip end of the complex stranded wire to be crimped. The C-type crimp portion has a third barrel tab for crimping the complex stranded wire. The third barrel tab is wound in a C-form on an outer periphery of the complex stranded wire to be crimped. The arrangement provides a crimp terminal and an electric wire with crimp terminal, that prevents or reduces increases in retained resistance at a crimp portion, and can also prevent an electric wire from slipping out of a crimp terminal.

摘要: A water stop member of a crimp terminal is affixed to an inner wall surface of an electric wire connecting portion of a terminal fitting before crimping and forms into a first water stop area, a second water stop area, and a third water stop area after the crimping. The first water stop area suppresses entering of water from a space between the outer wall surface of a first barrel piece and the inner wall surface of a second barrel piece in the electric wire connecting portion. The second water stop area suppresses entering of water from the side closer to a terminal connecting portion of the terminal fitting than the distal end position of a core wire. The third water stop area suppresses entering of water from a space between the inner wall surface of a cover crimping portion of the electric wire connecting portion and a cover.

摘要: A crimp-connection structural body, a wire harness, a method of manufacturing a crimp-connection structural body, and a manufacturing device are provided. The crimp-connection structural body includes an insulated wire formed by covering a conductor by an insulating cover, and a crimp terminal having a crimp section allowing connection by crimp of a conductor exposed portion formed by exposing the conductor. The crimp section is formed of a closed-barrel-type crimp section, and a cross-sectional shape of the crimp section in a radial direction is formed into an approximately recessed cross-sectional shape having a crimp recessed portion formed by indenting by inclined portions inclined from positions spaced-apart from each other by a predetermined distance. The predetermined distance is set to 90% or less of an entire width of the crimp section. An opposedly facing angle made by the inclined portions is set to a value which ranges from 10° to 120° inclusive.
