摘要: Multiple example valve amplifiers are provided. A first example valve amplifier is provided which comprises (i) a valve power amplifier switchable between a high-power mode and a low-power mode and (ii) a loudspeaker simulator circuit, the valve amplifier being configured such that the valve power amplifier drives the loudspeaker simulator circuit in the low-power mode. A second example valve amplifier is provided which comprises a switched-mode power supply, SMPS, system), the SMPS system comprising (i) an SMPS and (ii) circuitry configured to enable an output impedance of the SMPS to be switched between first and second output impedances, the first output impedance being lower than the second output impedance.

摘要: In an impedance converter using an electron tube as an active element, output impedance can be made sufficiently low, and the number of circuit elements therefor is decreased and a circuit configuration therefor is made simple. Provided is an impedance converter having an electron tube cathode-follower connected. The impedance converter includes a bias diode that provides a bias voltage to a cathode of the electron tube, high resistance elements that provide a voltage of the bias diode to a grid of the electron tube, a load circuit connected to the electron tube, and a complementary emitter output circuit including two transistors, respective bases of which are connected to one end and the other end of the bias diode.

摘要: A power amplifier includes a class-D amplifier and an input signal supplier. The class-D amplifier includes an input portion and a switching device. The switching device is switched according to an input signal that is input to the input portion so that a current is supplied to a load from a power source via the switching device. The input signal supplier supplies the input signal to the input portion of the class-D amplifier, calculates a virtual output voltage to be output from a virtual power source having a prescribed internal impedance characteristic when a current to flow through the load is output from the virtual power source, and adjust an amplitude of the input signal according to the virtual output voltage.

摘要: An audio power amplifier arrangement includes an audio power amplification integrated circuit having two loudspeaker outputs. A rectifier circuit includes a first diode having a cathode connected to one of the two loudspeaker outputs and an anode connected to a rectifier output node. A second diode has an anode connected to the one loudspeaker output. A first resistor has a first end connected to a cathode of the second diode and a second end connected to the rectifier output node. A capacitor has a first end connected to the rectifier output node and a second end connected to electrical ground. A second resistor has a first end connected to the rectifier output node and a second end connected to electrical ground.

摘要: Methods are provided for solid-state implementation of a vacuum tube replacement device that supplements the functional performance of the target replacement device, i.e., a traditional glass vacuum tube. Example functions may include OEM or user adjustable parameters such as gain and/or frequency response (e.g. transfer function), current and/or voltage saturation thresholds, bias condition, input and/or output impedance, linear-to-non-linear transfer function(s) (e.g. soft clipping parameters), power dissipation, communication protocols, and audio/visual indication parameters such as signal limiting detection, safety, stress, or wear-out conditions, and tube emulation model type to name a few. The methods presented for the vacuum tube replacement device system(s) are equally useful for non-vacuum tube systems such as audio amplifier circuits.

摘要: In this hybrid amplifier circuit the vacuum tube is direct coupled or DC coupled to the output of a solid state amplifier in a cathode follower configuration. An automatically operative bypass component, such as a Zener diode, LED, transistor junction or relay, diverts the signal output of the solid state amplifier around the vacuum tube stage when bias conditions or other vacuum tube operating conditions signify that the vacuum tube is still warming up or for some reason inoperative. Thus the hybrid circuit produces amplification at full volume and at low distortion even while the vacuum tube is warming up. The vacuum tube provides a desirable warming coloration to the sound that may be user adjusted by controlling the level of closed loop feedback within the circuit. Lower total harmonic distortion is achieved in a pentode vacuum tube device by direct coupling the screen and control grids. Lower voltage use of power pentodes wired in nonconventional "triode mode" is achieved.

摘要: A p -i-n semiconductor diode is used as the target for an electron-bombarded semiconductor amplifier. In such amplifiers, a form of evacuated electron tube has a conventional cathode, heater, and grid. However, the tube has the semiconductor diode target in place of the more conventional anode. A high beamaccelerating potential between the cathode and the target causes a high-velocity electron beam to bombard the target, which has its outer layer thin enough to permit the electrons to pass through to the intrinsic region of the diode, where the electrons generate electron-hole pairs. The semiconductor diode target is connected in series with an output load and a source of target bias potential that draws a current of the newly-created electron-hole pairs across the output load. The grid modulates the electron beam, which, in turn controls the current across the output load.
