As a result, the number of the operating switches and buttons can be reduced, the operation procedure of various devices to be remotely controlled can be unified, thereby being capable of obtaining high operability.

    摘要： A remote control unit radiates signals of operated program selection keys (3) via an infrared transmitter circuit (10, 11, 12). In order to simplify the selection of one of several TV programs for the user, the remote control device has a receiver circuit (18 to 23). The latter detects picture signals of the TV programs to be selected via program selection keys (3). A storage unit stores these picture signals. To each of the program selection keys (3) on the remote control set a picture display (6) is assigned. A control circuit (24, 29, 30) distributes the picture signals from the storage (25) cyclically to the picture displays (6).

The instructions are also used to assign to the macro pushbutton a subset of the selected codes and data from the library whereafter activation of the macro pushbutton causes the universal remote control to use the subset of selected codes and data from the library to transmit operating commands to one or more of the matched home appliances.

The universal remote control system further includes a data transmission system including coupling circuitry for coupling the terminal structure to a computer directly, through a modem to a telephone line, or through a television set to a television signal picked up by the television set, the coupling circuitry including a cable, a first connector for connection to the terminal structure at one end of the cable, and an interface connector at the other end of the cable for connecting directly to a computer, or through a modem and a telephone line to a computer, or to a television set which receives data in a television signal from a computer.
