    摘要: Aspects of the invention provide a system and method to allow inroute frame timing synchronization without the aid of hub signal loopback or satellite ephemeris data. Furthermore, it allows tracking and compensating of the satellite motion to allow multiple remotes to use TDMA on the inroute frequencies, while minimizing the aperture. Two main techniques proposed are CLT and polling based approaches, which are used in combination for an optimum solution. In CLT based approach, hub transmits remote specific timing correction feedback messages on the outroute on as needed basis. In polling based approach, the remotes derive their timing based on a per-beam average delay estimate broadcast by the hub and a measured local delay specific to each outroute stream from a remote. An aspect of the invention uses triangulation method to determine satellite position. Furthermore, an aspect of the invention uses hub burst arrival method instead of polling approach.

    摘要: An acquisition system for the SDMA/TDMA satellite communication system is disclosed in which a synchronization signal receiving time slot and a plurality of data signal receiving time slots, for communication between predetermined groups of earth stations and between the earth stations of each group, are sequentially provided at the satellite based on timing signal in the satellite. An acquisition signal having a plurality of signal burst portions is transmitted from the earth station, with its transmit time slot being shifted in a first sweep mode until one part of the acquisition signal is received by said transmitting earth station. At that time the transmit time slot is shifted in a second sweep mode, whereby a control is made to obtain synchronization of the earth station with the satellite so that the plurality of burst portions in the acquisition signal may be properly communicated to the predetermined groups.Further, an acquisition control is shown to be effectively achieved in the case where the SN ratio of the received acquisition signal is extremely deteriorated or where it is necessary to prevent disturbing another earth station of the same group of earth stations which has already accessed the satellite.

One method includes determining a propagation delay between a wireless communication device and a base station of a satellite network, adjusting, by the wireless communication device, a timing offset between transmit and receive radio frames at the wireless communication device based on whether the satellite network or a terrestrial network is selected, and based at least on the propagation delay, configuring air interface communication protocol timer values including at least a wait time for a response based on at least a frame offset between uplink and downlink frames at the base station of the satellite network, and communicating, by the wireless communication device, with the base station of the satellite network when the satellite network is selected, and with a base station of the terrestrial network when the terrestrial network is selected.

    摘要: A device and method for unwrapping phase samples of a burst signal. The device generates a set of vectors including phase samples. A first mean and a first variance of the vectors is computed, and a set of unwrapped phase samples of the burst signal are computed by rotating phase samples of the vector having a smallest first variance by a first rotation amount. The set of vectors is updated based on a new phase sample and a second mean and a second variance of the updated set of vectors is computed. Differences between unwrapped phase samples and a number of phase samples included in the vector having the smallest computed second variance are computed. A next unwrapped phase sample is generated by rotating the new phase sample by a second rotation amount corresponding to a median value of the computed differences.
