    摘要: A system and method for transmitting DS3 signals over long distances over a plurality of twisted pair conductors is provided. A DS3 interface is provided. The DS3 signal is inversely multiplexed into a plurality of data streams. Overhead is added to the data streams to generate packets having stream identifiers and packet number identifiers. At the receive end, received packets are synchronized using the stream and packet number identifiers, and multiplexed back into a DS3 signal. Systems according to embodiments of the invention are compatible with existing loopback codes, passing through a first loopback code received, and optionally entering a loopback mode where more than one loopback code is received consecutively without an intervening loop down code being received. The incorporated technology permits very small packaging and thereby permits use in small outdoor enclosures. Connection interfaces adapt automatically to the application and provide further conveniences for use in telephone company outdoor cabinets.

    摘要: An apparatus for processing a frame structured data signal, the data signal comprising at least one data frame comprising a plurality of data elements arranged in accordance with a frame structure. The apparatus is arranged to generate a tag element for each data element, the configuration of the tag element corresponding to the position of the respective data element within the detected data frame. The apparatus further includes a data processor, arranged to perform one or more respective processing operations on one or more of the data elements, wherein the or each processing operation is determined by the configuration of the respective tag element. The apparatus enjoys the flexibility afforded by a data processor while having relatively low processing power requirements. As a result, it is capable of processing a relatively high volume of data in real time, and is programmable to support more than one frame structure and data rate thereby reducing development, implementation, field maintenance and upgrade costs.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a data processing system and method and, more particularly, to a software TDM bus emulator which emulates the operation of a TDM bus. Often computer aided telephony voice processing applications that require specialised processing services such as DTMF tone detection, facsimile service and voice recognition or synthesis services. Typically, these services are provided via dedicated hardware digital signal processors that communicate using a SONET bus. However, not all computer aided telephony servers have the full range of such specialised hardware resources. Accordingly, the present invention provides a data processing method in which a TDM bus is emulated to periodically execute, using system resources, a number of software data processing resources, which communicate with each other to form a data processing chain. The results of the data processing chain are ultimately returned to the voice application. Suitably, a computer aided telephony server can be arranged to support a fuller range of services without having to install new or additional hardware processing resources such as digital signal processors and a physical TDM bus.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for enhancing frame alignment using cyclic redundancy check (“CRC”) corrections are disclosed. In one embodiment, a process of frame alignment searches a predefined bit pattern within a first multi-frame structure and provides an assumed frame boundary after identifying the predefined bit pattern in the first multi-frame structure. While calculating a CRC value in response to the assumed frame boundary, the process further corrects the CRC value in accordance with a saved residue and F-bits identified by the assumed frame boundary. The assumed frame boundary is subsequently verified by comparing the calculated CRC value with embedded CRC value obtained from a second multi-frame structure.
