    摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for displaying an image by raster scanning using a mirror. The apparatus includes a mirror control unit that controls a vertical motion of the mirror to be a triangle wave motion, and a scanning unit that repeatedly performs a forward scan and a reverse scan over the mirror in an orthogonal direction. The apparatus can reduce ringing by controlling the vertical motion of the mirror to be an isosceles triangle wave motion and increasing a sawtooth flyback time to about 50%. Also, since the reverse scan is performed during flyback after the forward scan is performed, the apparatus can compensate for a reduction in screen brightness, which is caused by the increase of the sawtooth flyback time to about 50%.

    摘要: A symmetrical square wave, having zero average value, is coupled to the input of a horizontal deflection yoke through an S-shaping capacitance. A negative resistance coupled to the output of the yoke has a negative resistance value which compensates for resistive losses in the yoke. A yoke current generated in the yoke will be a symmetrical triangular waveform. A first control loop adjusts the negative resistance value to assure successive zero value crossings of the yoke current are coincident in time with each center of successive horizontal scan lines. A second control loop adjusts the square wave to assure successive level transitions of the square wave are coincident in time with successive changes of scanning direction.

The former device includes at least one of the first circuitry for non-linearly expanding a horizontal display scale of the 4:3 image being fully displayed to fill up the 16:9 screen, in right and left portions of the image relative to the horizontal center of the image as such that a rate of non-linear expansion is increased as a horizontal position within the image becomes distant from a horizontal center of the image, and second circuitry for non-linearly compressing a vertical display scale of the 4:3 image being fully displayed to fill up the 16:9 screen, in upper and lower portions of the image relative to the vertical center of the image as such that a rate of non-linear compression is increased as a vertical position within the image becomes distant from a vertical center of the image. In the latter device, the horizontal scale is non-linearly compressed, and the vertical scale is non-linearly expanded.

    摘要: In a horizontal deflection system, an nf.sub.H timing signal is generated synchronously with an f.sub.H horizontal synchronizing component in a video signal, where nf.sub.H is a higher frequency than f.sub.H. A first circuit is responsive to the nf.sub.H timing signal for generating an nf.sub.H scan synchronizing signal synchronously with the nfH timing signal. A horizontal deflection stage is operable at nf.sub.H and responsive to the nf.sub.H scan synchronizing signal. A second circuit is responsive to the same nf.sub.H timing signal for generating horizontal blanking pulses. The nf.sub.H timing signal can be generated by a first phase locked loop and a frequency divider. The first circuit responsive to the nf.sub.H timing signal can comprise a second phase locked loop. The second circuit responsive to the nfH timing signal can comprise a driver/inverter. The horizontal blanking pulses are combined with vertical blanking pulses to form a composite blanking signal.

    摘要: Cathode ray tube display apparatus comprises a cathode ray tube display screen for displaying successive frames of a non-interlaced video image in response to excitation by at least one raster-scanned electron beam. A line timebase circuit sequentially addresses each electron beam to successive pixels on the screen in a line of a raster in response to a line timebase sync signal. A frame timebase circuit sequentially addresses each electron beam to successive lines of the raster in response to a frame timebase sync signal. The frame timebase circuit comprises means for offsetting successive frames of the video image in a direction transverse of the lines of the raster by a distance less than the spacing of adjacent lines of the raster. Gaps between adjacent pixels on successive lines of the raster are made invisible to the viewer because the persistence of viewer's eye effectively integrates the image content of successive frames. Also, because the successive frames have the same image content, there is no low-frequency component in the image spectrum below the frame timebase frequency. Therefore, the displayed image is free from objectionable flicker.
