摘要:
A heat exchange catalytic process and reactor of the shell-and-tube type having a plurality of tubes extending longitudinally through the shell from a tube fluid inlet region to a tube fluid outlet region and baffles extending transversely across the shell dividing the shell between said inlet and outlet regions into at least three heat exchange zones through which each tube passes in sequence in heat exchange with that zone. A shell fluid is passed through the heat exchange zones in heat exchange with the tube fluid passing through the tubes. Transfer passages are provided connencting the heat exchange zones and are disposed so that the shell fluid passes through the second zone before or after it has passed through both the first and third zones. A particulate catalyst is disposed in either the shell heat exchange zones or, preferably, the tubes. The process utilises a heat exchange medium, particularly water, that does not change state under the prevailing conditions and is preferably fed to the shell heat exchange zones while the reactant stream passes through the catalyst disposed in the tubes. The process is particularly applicable to the selective hydrogenation of acetylenes in the presence of olefins.

A device for cooling hot, compressed, dust-laden gases. The device consists of an inner structure made out of cooled tubes, positioned inside a pressurized container. The device contains several straight partitions made out of tubes. The partitions parallel the longitudinal axis of the inner structure. The object is to redesign the heat-emitting surfaces of the device in order to make it more compact. At least one of the straight partitions is bent out into a nest of tubes. The nest extends through the cross-section of the inner structure. The tubes that the nest is made out of extend through and are supported by the rest of the partitions.

An improved heat exchange construction for tube bundle heat exchange systems including shell (4) and tube (6) types (2), incorporating detached, essentially spherical flow interrupters (24, 26) arranged in an interconnected matrix configuration (22), and disposed within the tube bundle interstices (9, 11). Substantial improvements in heat exchange and exchanger tube life, is provided. The mechanically interconnected matrix configuration of the flow interrupters provides an economical and easily assembled means to improve heat transfer outside of individual tubes in a tube bundle configuration. Continuous tube support is also provided by tube/interrupter contact, thereby greatly decreasing fatigue failures encountered in presently used multiple tube, tube/shell heat exchanger configurations (2).

A heat exchanger block includes a series of rows of tubes, the end rows of which are joined to form walls, and two further rows of tubes at the opposite sides of the series, also formed as walls. The tubes of the further rows are shorter than the other tubes and, at one side, are spaced downwardly from the top and, at the other side, are spaced upwardly from the bottom. A pair of lateral openings at the opposite sides and ends of the block results. The blocks may be joined to provide composites or they may be separate although joined at one pair of their lateral openings. A pressure vessel may enclose the blocks to relieve them of rupturing pressure.

In an apparatus for a treatment of flowing media which causes heat exchange and mixing internal fittings are located within a housing, which internal fittings consist of tubes extending in the axial direction of the housing, each such tube containing a plurality of elbow-shaped tube portions connected by other tube portions, said tubes being arranged in parallel to one another with the connecting tube portions of adjacent tubes crossing one another.

A heat transfer structure and system including a matrix of tubes and spheres bonded together to provide a conduit for a first fluid such as water and a plurality of interconnected paths for a second fluid such as hot flue gas. The paths are made up of the spaces between the spheres such that the walls of the paths are portions of spherical surfaces. The total path length is made less than twenty times the average radius of curvature of the spherical surfaces and the spacing between adjacent tube elements is of the same order of magnitude as the average length of the paths. A water heater or boiler so constructed may be made to transfer substantially all the heat in a flue gas to water in an average path length of one inch or less.
