    摘要: A rotary device has a releasable tool holder. A spindle with two ends has one end adapted to secure to a rotary device and the other includes a bore to receive a tool. A mechanism to retain and release the tool from the spindle bore is coupled with the spindle adjacent the bore end. At least two unlike retention members to apply a force on the tool in the bore are adjacent the bore. A sleeve surrounds the bore end of the spindle as well as the at least two unlike retention members. The sleeve has a common surface to apply a force on the at least two unlike retention members such that when the sleeve is axially moved along the spindle, the force is varied with respect to the position of the surface on the retention member. This force maintains the tool in the bore or enables the tool to be removed from the bore. A biasing member maintains the sleeve in a retention position on the spindle.

    摘要: A universal sleeve-clamp for using interchangeable jaw pieces to clamp a workpiece has a sleeve with a plurality of radially moveable elements. Features are provided for locating and attaching the jaw pieces to the radially moveable elements so that, when a clamping taper is made to bear against the radially moveable elements, the radially moveable elements, and hence the interchangeable jaw pieces, are moved radially to clamp the workpiece. The clamping taper may be externally tapered to form an expanding mandrel, or internally tapered to form a collet chuck. The jaw pieces, which are made of soft metal or other easily machinable material, may be shaped for clamping multiple diameters, clamping thin-walled workpieces or for clamping a workpiece eccentrically. A locator plate is used to give additional support to a workpiece, or to align it in a known rotational position for static fixturing.

    摘要: An apparatus for drilling lock wire holes in lock wire nuts includes a variable speed drill press mounted on a work bench and having a vertically movable drill quill supporting a rotating drill spindle on one end of which is mounted a drill chuck for holding and driving a drill bit for drilling a hole in the lock wire nuts. An N/C microprocessor is coupled to the drill press for controlling the vertical motion of the drill quill in a peck drill cycle. A nut holder, including a collet chuck having three jaw inserts is mounted in a chuck indexer for positioning the chuck in any of three 120.degree. angularly spaced positions about a central longitudinal axis through the chuck. A drill guide in each of said jaw inserts guides the drill bit at an angle against said faces of said nuts to drill lock wire holes through the nut lobes. The chuck indexer is mounted on an X-Y positioner, in turn mounted on the work bench, for positioning the drill guide in the jaw inserts to be drilled through precisely in alignment with the drill in the drill press. The jaw inserts are indexed one by one in the chuck in line with the drill bit and the N/C microprocessor controls the drill press to execute the peck drill cycle through the drill guide to drill a lock wire hole through the desired lobes of the lock wire nut.
