Abstract: A system for increasing neural synchrony by using biofeedback includes first and second EEG headsets configured to detect neural activity in first and second users, respectively, during at least one biofeedback monitoring session. A computer is in communication with the first and second EEG headsets. The computer is configured to receive a first data set from the first EEG headset. The first data set includes data of the neural activity of the first user. The computer is configured to receive a second data set from the second EEG headset. The second data set includes data of the neural activity of the second user. The computer is configured to compare the first data set with the second data set. The computer is configured to identify an occurrence of neural synchrony between a parent and child, display neural synchrony data in real-time, and to increase parent-child neural synchrony by utilizing biofeedback.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for controlling a device based on the detection of transient oscillatory or pseudo-oscillatory bursts are disclosed. For example, a method can comprise detecting one or more transient oscillatory or pseudo-oscillatory bursts from an ongoing neural signal recording of a subject. The method can also comprise extracting one or more burst features from the one or more transient oscillatory or pseudo-oscillatory bursts detected within a detection period. The method can also comprise predicting a thought generated or conjured by the subject or a change in mental state evoked by the subject by applying at least one of a machine learning algorithm and a feature threshold to the one or more burst features extracted within the detection period. An input command associated with the prediction can be transmitted to the device in order to control the device.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are apparatuses and methods for treating neurological disorders by electro-stimulation. The apparatus (10) for treating neurological disorders includes at least one electrode (12) implantable in the brain of a patient, and a processing and stimulation device (14) connected to the at least one electrode (12). The processing and stimulation device (14) may include a stimulation module (16) configured to generate a stimulation signal to be sent to the at least one electrode (12), and an acquisition module (20) that measures cerebral activity coming from the brain of the patient. The acquisition module (20) may have a front-end block (27) configured to amplify the potential difference of its input signals (V1a, V2a) and to filter a stimulus artifact and may include a multi-stage fully-differential switched capacitor circuit (e.g., an integrated circuit) configured for discrete-time signal processing.

Abstract: A biological information measuring apparatus includes a distortion calculating unit that calculates, based on video pulse wave information representing a video pulse wave expressing a temporal change in a brightness value included in a video signal of a predetermined part of a subject, a waveform distortion obtained from a heartbeat basic component containing a frequency component of a heartbeat frequency band corresponding to a heart rate of the subject and a heartbeat high-frequency component related to a waveform of a pulse wave and containing a frequency component of a frequency band higher than the heartbeat frequency band, the heartbeat basic component and the heartbeat high-frequency component being included in the video pulse wave; and a measuring unit that measures a fluctuation in a blood pressure of the subject based on the waveform distortion calculated by the distortion calculating unit.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for providing parameters that indicate a higher likelihood of a postoperative delirium occurring. According to an aspect of the present disclosure, the following steps are provided: detecting at least one EEG signal at the head of the patient; determining the average amplitude of the “direct current” EEG signal; checking whether an increase in the determined average amplitude when entering anesthetic-induced loss of consciousness is above a predefined amount, and in the event of this, providing a corresponding information in the form of a parameter that shows a higher likelihood of a postoperative delirium occurring.
