Abstract: A biological information measuring apparatus includes a distortion calculating unit that calculates, based on video pulse wave information representing a video pulse wave expressing a temporal change in a brightness value included in a video signal of a predetermined part of a subject, a waveform distortion obtained from a heartbeat basic component containing a frequency component of a heartbeat frequency band corresponding to a heart rate of the subject and a heartbeat high-frequency component related to a waveform of a pulse wave and containing a frequency component of a frequency band higher than the heartbeat frequency band, the heartbeat basic component and the heartbeat high-frequency component being included in the video pulse wave; and a measuring unit that measures a fluctuation in a blood pressure of the subject based on the waveform distortion calculated by the distortion calculating unit.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for providing parameters that indicate a higher likelihood of a postoperative delirium occurring. According to an aspect of the present disclosure, the following steps are provided: detecting at least one EEG signal at the head of the patient; determining the average amplitude of the “direct current” EEG signal; checking whether an increase in the determined average amplitude when entering anesthetic-induced loss of consciousness is above a predefined amount, and in the event of this, providing a corresponding information in the form of a parameter that shows a higher likelihood of a postoperative delirium occurring.

Abstract: Blood glucose states based at least on sensed brain activity data. Blood glucose states may be predicted states using prediction models, and may be real-time or future glucose states. One or more wearable sensors, optionally adapted for use in either single channel or dual channel sensing, can record brain activity signals and communicate brain activity signal data to a remote device.

Abstract: An electroencephalogram decision system determines, when finding electroencephalogram information representing an electroencephalogram obtained by an electrode unit placed on a region of interest that forms part of a subject's head satisfying a predetermined condition, that a target electroencephalogram, which is an electroencephalogram with a characteristic variation, should have been produced. The predetermined condition is selected from of detection conditions including a first type of condition and a second type of condition. The first type of condition specifies that a decision should be made, based on a component falling within a single frequency band included in the electroencephalogram represented by the electroencephalogram information, whether or not the target electroencephalogram has been produced. The second type of condition specifies that a decision should be made, based on components falling within multiple different frequency bands included in the electroencephalogram represented by the electroencephalogram information, whether or not the target electroencephalogram has been produced.

Abstract: Provided are systems, methods, and devices for brain stimulation and monitoring. Brain stimulation may be provided to enhance slow wave and spindle synchrony. Such stimulation may provide increased memory consolidation. Furthermore, brain stimulation modalities may provide enhanced sleep and awakening. For example, transcranial direct current stimulation of the brain stimulation may enhance sleep quality. Moreover, one or more markers characterizing unconsciousness are may be identified based on changes in measured power densities or spectra. Further still, the above described modalities of brain stimulation may be implemented in an open-loop or closed loop manner. Brain state parameters may be generated for building models of the brain based on determined synchrony patterns between slow waves and spindles. The models may be used to determine a mediation procedure for adjusting the intensity of slow wave oscillations to enhance slow wave and spindle synchrony.

Abstract: A system for improving cognitive function is disclosed. The system comprises a non-invasive brain stimulation device (150); a human computer interface; and a computer (101) configured to control the non-invasive brain stimulation device (150) and the human computer interface. The computer (101) controls the brain stimulation device (150) and the human computer interface to assess a subject's baseline cognitive function by interaction with the subject using the human computer interface. If the subject's baseline cognitive function is impaired, the computer (101) uses the human computer interface to provide the subject with a strategy for improving performance in a cognitive function test and stimulates the subjects brain with the non-invasive brain stimulation device (150) while training the subjects cognitive function.

Abstract: An initial set of parameters for operating one or more detection tools is automatically derived and subsequently adjusted so that each detection tool is more or less sensitive to signal characteristics in a region of interest. Detection tool(s) may be applied to physiological signals sensed from a patient (such as EEG signals) and may be configured to run in an implanted medical device that is programmable with the parameters to look for rhythmic activity, spiking, and power changes in the sensed signals, etc. A detection tool may be selected and parameter values derived in a logical sequence and/or in pairs based on a graphical representation of an activity type which may be selected by a user, for example, by clicking and dragging on the graphic via a GUI. Displayed simulations allow a user to assess what will be detected with a derived parameter set and then to adjust the sensitivity of the set or start over as desired.
