    摘要： The apparatus comprises a hollow casing in the form of a solid of revolution having an inlet and an outlet, a spinner for imparting rotary motion within the casing to a fluid being purified, and a hollow filter element closed at one end, positioned coaxially within the casing and snugly fit with the open end in the outlet of the casing. The apparatus also includes a discharge connection piece for removal of the impurities that have been separated from the fluid being purified. The spinner is positioned at the inlet, and the discharge connection piece is attached to the lower portion of the casing. The filter element and the casing define a space tapering from the inlet toward the outlet, and the filter element being a frame with a covering having a water-repellent polymeric foam material applied thereto.

    摘要： Filter assembly for filtering solids from molten aluminum metal comprises at least one open-ended rigid refractory filter tube having an interior passageway, a bottom plate acting to close one end of such tube, a top plate having an aperture communicating with the interior passageway of such filter tube, and means, such as a tie bolt, with a fastener device to maintain the top and bottom plate and the interposed filter tube or tubes in sealed relationship so that the molten metal will flow through the walls of the rigid refractory filter tube without leakage at the ends or joints, to efficiently remove solid contaminants from the metal. The plates and tie rod or the like are of metal resistant to attack by molten aluminum, advantageously of cast iron. The refractory material of the tubes contains refractory particles resistant to molten aluminum and a bonding agent containing not over 10 percent silica.

    摘要： A method and system for filtering cooking oil in cooking vessels is disclosed. In accordance with the method and system, there is provided a collection vessel for collecting filtered oil, a filter member for filtering contaminants and particulate matter from the cooking oil, and a centrifugal pump apparatus which includes an impeller, an impeller discharge, and a flexible conduit having an inlet end connected to the impeller discharge and an outlet end. The filter member is supported in relation to the collection vessel so as to be in position to receive oil to be filtered, and then to discharge filtered oil into the collection vessel. The centrifugal pump apparatus is adapted to be placed directly in the cooking vessel so that at least the impeller thereof is in direct contact with the oil to be filtered, and the outlet end of the flexible conduit is arranged to be in position to discharge oil pumped therethrough into the filter member. When the centrifugal pump apparatus is operated, the impeller is rotated to thereby pump oil from the cooking vessel through the flexible conduit into the filter member. Also in accordance with the present invention, filtered cooking oil can be returned to the cooking vessel by simply removing the centrifugal pump apparatus from the cooking vessel, placing it in the collection vessel so that the impeller is in direct contact with the oil therein, and then operating the centrifugal pump apparatus to pump filtered oil from the collection vessel back into the cooking vessel.

    摘要： A filter device comprising a tubular housing with an inlet for the fluid to be filtered in one end of the housing, an outlet for filtrate in the opposite end of the housing and a filter tube mounted inside the housing and extending essentially in the axial direction of the tubular housing. At least part of the filter tube wall forms the filter surface. One end of the filter is openly connected to said inlet, whereas the other end is closed so that an annular feed conduit is formed between the housing and the filter tube. A first valve means is arranged inside the filter tube to shut off the filter tube, during cleaning periods, thereby dividing the filter tube and the filter surface into an upstream part and a downstream part, and forcing the entire filtrate stream to pass through said upstream part of the filter surface into the filtrate conduit. The downstream part of the filter tube is provided with a discharge conduit comprising a second valve means to cause, by opening said second valve means at said cleaning periods, part of the filtrate stream from the filtrate conduit to stream back through the downstream part of the filter surface, thereby removing rejected material settled thereon out through said discharge conduit.

    摘要： Methods and apparatus for concentrating liquid-containing substances are disclosed. The disclosed method includes contacting liquid-containing substances such as fiber suspensions with separating means as the substance flows in a first direction so that a portion of the liquid is separated from the liquid-containing substance, withdrawing the liquid through the separating means in a second direction, intermittently interrupting the flow of the liquid downstream from that point of withdrawal to terminate the flow of the liquid through the separating means and preventing return flow of the separated liquid through the separating means. The apparatus disclosed includes means for directing the flow of the liquid-containing substance in a first direction, separating means for separating a portion of the liquid therefrom in a second direction, means for interrupting the flow of the separated liquid downstream from the separating means in a second direction, and means for preventing the return flow of the liquid through the separating means. In a preferred embodiment the apparatus includes a membrane which acts as a non-return valve for the separated liquid during interrupted flow of the separated liquid.
