    摘要: Adhesion of a thermosetting powder coating to a glass substrate surface using a silane adhesion promoter, is enhanced by modifying the pH of the glass surface to between 3.5 and 5, prior to, or during, the action of the promoter. The pH-modification may be effected during washing of the surface prior to spray-application of the promoter, or by including an acid or alkali modifier in the silane solution. Alternatively, the silane, or the silane and the modifier, may be included in the thermosetting powder to become active during fusing of the powder to the glass surface. An acid or alkali solution dried on the surface prior to application of the promoter for activation with the promoter on heating, may be used instead or in addition.

    摘要: The method of depositing granules in a frame pattern includes moving an asphalt-coated web and depositing successive granule blend drops on the web. The first blend drop has a first color and forms a first blend drop pattern defining an inner region. The second blend drop has a second color and forms a second blend drop pattern sized to fit within the inner region of the first blend drop such that the first blend drop frames the second blend drop. A third blend drop having a different third color or the same as the first color is deposited such that the third blend drop adheres to an intermediate region between the first and second blend drops. The system includes a mechanism for moving the web and an asphalt coater for coating the web with asphalt. First and second media applicators are used to deposit the first and second blend drops in the respective first and second blend drop patterns. A third media applicator deposits the third blend drop as a curtain of granules over the first and second blend drop patterns.

    摘要: This invention relates to novel airbag coating compositions and systems comprising pre-expanded or non-expandable microspheres that provide effective insulation for the target airbag fabric during exothermic inflation. The inventive airbag fabrics are either pre-calendered prior to application of this composition or are coated through a gap (floating) knife method with such heat-expandable microsphere-containing compositions. The coated airbag fabrics and cushions may then be heated to evaporate the solvent within the coating composition. The resultant fabric thus exhibits the presence of the microsphere constituents of the coating compositions both within the interstices between the individual yarns of the fabric and over the raised yarns of the fabric. Such a coating system thus provides an extremely high degree of protection from heat exposure that permits structural integrity of the target airbag cushion airbag and provides protection from such high inflation temperatures to a vehicle passenger cushion during such a highly exothermic inflation event. The method of forming such specific airbag coating systems on airbag fabrics is also encompassed within this invention.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for applying a thermoplastic powder to threads located in a bore of an internally threaded fastener having a powder supply conduit in communication with a powder source and a powder application conduit defining a first passageway having a powder discharge port and a second passageway having a powder inlet port located adjacent the discharge port which is in communication with a powder collection system. The powder application conduit is movable for insertion into and through the bore of the fastener and into engagement with the powder supply conduit. The engagement forms a nozzle which directs powder through the powder discharge port onto the threads of the fastener and retrieves excess powder through the powder inlet port for conveyance to the powder collection system.
