摘要： A wheel assembly including a cover portion permanently attached to a wheel. The wheel includes a wheel central hub portion, a wheel outer peripheral rim portion, a plurality of wheel spoke portions extending between the wheel central hub portion and the wheel outer peripheral rim portion, and a plurality of wheel turbine openings disposed between adjacent ones of the plurality of wheel spoke portions. A cover portion is configured to overlie a portion of the wheel portion. The cover portion is configured to overlie one or more of the wheel central hub portion; the plurality of wheel spoke portions, and the plurality of turbine openings or the wheel outer periphery. An adhesive is disposed between an outboard surface of the wheel and the inboard surface of the cover portion to permanently secure the cover portion to the wheel portion. When the cover portion is secured to the wheel, substantial portions of the plurality of wheel spokes, the wheel central hub, or wheel outer periphery remain exposed.

摘要： An improved wheel trim retention system which may incorporate anti-theft features is disclosed herein which incorporate both an easily fabricated assembly for effectively preventing relative rotation between the wheel trim and associated vehicle wheel as well as providing an improved arrangement for aiding in centering and spacing of the outer periphery from the adjacent vehicle wheel structure so as to avoid annoying rattling noises emanating therefrom. The spacer centering members are particularly suited to accommodate situations wherein a single wheel trim is intended to be fitted to vehicle wheels fabricated from either aluminum or steel and incorporates a multi-position centering spacer member which is adapted to engage the adjacent annular flange portion of the vehicle wheel which may be positioned at different distances from the trim member. A retaining clip member is also provided which operates to retain the centering spacer member in assembled relationship with the wheel trim as well as to provide a biasing action to maintain it in a desired set position. In order to prevent relative rotation between the wheel trim and associated vehicle wheel, a plurality of spring fingers are provided on the trim member, selected ones of which are designed to engage recessed portions provided on the associated lock bracket so as to prevent the relative rotation therebetween. The number of spring fingers and recesses provided are coordinated in such a manner as to assure any desired number of spring fingers will be seated within the recesses simultaneously and yet also enable a relatively small degree of indexing in order to seat adjacent spring fingers.

摘要： A conversion kit for an automotive wheel cover, which has a central opening defined therein, is provided by securing a hub spacer to a vehicle wheel against a bolt-on flange formed as part of the vehicle wheel. The hub spacer is secured by lug bolts or nuts. The hub spacer forms a guide which extends from the vehicle wheel toward the central opening of the wheel cover. A fastener, which is longitudinally constrained with respect to the hub spacer, is included within the guide and is laterally movable to allow the fastener to be aligned within the central opening of the wheel cover. A replacement hub cap is mounted in place of the conventional non-locking hub cap. An annular concentric recess is formed in the replacement hub cap and is disposed in a direction away from the automotive wheel. The annular recess forms a narrow bearing shoulder and a small diameter axial bore through which the fastener is disposed. A lockable fastening bolt is seated in the recess of the replacement hub cap against the narrow shoulder and engages the fastener in the guide. The lockable fastening bolt is characterized by having a highly contoured interfaced surfce. A removable locking key is provided which snugly seats in the recess and engages the contoured interface surface of the lockable fastening bolt. The key is used for engaging and disengaging the lockable fastening bolt from the fastener in the guide to thereby unlock and lock the replacement hub cap. A cap cover is mounted in the replacement hub cap to conceal the recess and the lockable fastening bolt.

摘要： An ornamental wheel cover having a funnel shaped member provided with at least three radially projecting tabs. Each of the tabs has a hole therethrough for registration on the threaded studs to which the wheel is fixedly mounted to rotate with the wheel. Nuts positionally lock the radially projecting tabs on the studs wherein the central axis of the funnel shaped member is coincident with the axis of the axle and the locking pin. The funnel shaped member has an intermediate cylindrical portion which terminates in an inwardly flaring conical portion to surround the end of the axle. The conical portion has a slot therethrough for receiving the radially extending pin member when the locking pin is pressed inwardly against the biasing force of the spring. The radially extending pin member engages an outwardly facing detent formed on the inner surface of the conical portion positioned perpendicularly to the slot provided through the conical portion. The detent is semi-circular and has substantially the same radius of curvature as the radially extending pin member such that the locking pin is lockingly positioned when the radially extending pin member comes to rest in the semi-circular detent thereby positively locking the wheel cover to the funnel shaped member.
