Abstract:
An automobile pneumatic tire comprises a multiple-ply carcass extending in-between two bead rings having allocated bead fillers, a belt arrangement between the plies of the carcass and a tread strip, and rubber reinforcement plies in the sidewall sections assuming a supporting function where the tire is deflated. A first rubber reinforcement ply is inside a first ply of the carcass, a second rubber reinforcement ply is between the first ply of the carcass and the second ply of the carcass, and a third rubber reinforcement ply is between the second ply of the carcass and a third ply of the carcass. The three rubber reinforcement plies extend down with their ends staggered in relation to each other from the bead core area to the edge area of the belt ply. The three rubber plies have different heights in radial direction and different thickness over the height of the sidewall.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a rubber composition which contains an aminoalcohol as a tack retention additive. The invention also relates to a tire having a component of such rubber composition. The invention is further directed to a method of preparing a tire having tire tread ends or other rubber components joined together without an adhesive.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to a pneumatic tire having at least one component comprising a vulcanizable rubber composition, wherein the vulcanizable rubber composition comprises, based on 100 parts by weight of elastomer (phr), from about 5 to 30 phr of high trans random SBR, and from about 70 to about 95 phr of at least one additional elastomer, wherein the high trans random SBR comprises from about 3 to about 30 percent by weight of styrene.
Abstract:
The present invention is a tire comprising a tread and layers radially interior to said tread, wherein at least one layer comprises a dye or pigment that fluoresces when exposed to ultraviolet light. The fluorescent dye may be on the surface of the layer, or dispersed throughout the layer. The present invention also comprises a method of inspecting a tire for proper placement of components comprising shining an ultraviolet light onto a cut section of the aforesaid layer. The invention also includes a method of re-treading a tire where the fluorescent layer is interior to the tread, and detecting the fluorescence of the layer is a signal to cease tread removal operations. In one to embodiment of the invention, the tire has at least one steel belt, and the fluorescent layer is a tape covering the edge of the belt. In another embodiment of the invention, the tire is a non-pneumatic tire. In one embodiment of the invention, a different fluorescent dye is used in at least two interior layers of the tire.
Abstract:
A bead loosening device (10) can be used to loosen a tire from a rim while the tire/wheel assembly (20) is installed on a horizontal spindle (18) of a tire-testing machine (12). The device (10) comprises a supporting arm (30), having a first end pivotally connected to a lever (34), and a shoe-carrying arm (32), having a first end pivotally connected to the lever (34) and a second end to which a shoe (38) is attached. A handle (40) is connected to the lever (34) in such a manner that movement of the handle (40) results in the shoe (38) moving radially inward towards a sidewall of the tire. The shoe-carrying arm (32) follows a curved path slanted towards the supporting arm (30).
