Abstract:
A method for designing tires for reduced cavity noise is directed to tires of the type having architectural elements comprising at least one carcass structure anchored in each side of the tire in a bead, each bead having a base which is intended to be mounted on the tire's design mounting rim, a side wall portion extending radially upward from each bead, a reinforced summit comprising reinforcement cords disposed at a given angle, and the side wall portions joining the summit. The method includes the step of arranging the architectural elements to provide a flexibility level of at least a portion of the summit to allow said portion to vibrate at a frequency substantially corresponding to the cavity mode.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire which facilitates separation of a rubber layer and is excellent in recyclability and retreadability and a method of scrapping the same. A pneumatic tire comprises a partition layer buried adjacent to a rubber layer, the partition layer including at least one cord repeatedly bent to turn around at its bent portion and arranged in a plane and rubber portions interposed between adjacent portions of the cord. Herein, the cord is arranged in a direction intersecting with the tire circumferential direction. The cord of the partition layer is pulled in an in-plane direction of the partition layer to sequentially cut the rubber portions interposed between the adjacent portions of the cord. The rubber layer adjacent to the partition layer is thus separated.

The invention concerns a device for mounting a sensor on a motor vehicle wheel rim (10) comprising: a truss rod (20), a housing (40) receiving the sensor, said housing being articulated relative to the truss rod (20), a means (30) for locking the truss rod in position on the rim (10) once the housing (40) is in contact with the rim (10). The invention is characterized in that said housing (40) includes a first stop element (80) designed to co-operate by contact with a first zone of the rim (10), said first stop element (80) being arranged on one side of a plane P passing through the hinge pin of the housing (40) and a second stop element (70) arranged on the other side of said plane and designed to press on the rim (10) under a force F exerted by the truss rod (20). The invention also concerns the mounting method associated with said device.
Abstract:
The present invention is a tire comprising a tread and layers radially interior to said tread, wherein at least one layer comprises a dye or pigment that fluoresces when exposed to ultraviolet light. The fluorescent dye may be on the surface of the layer, or dispersed throughout the layer. The present invention also comprises a method of inspecting a tire for proper placement of components comprising shining an ultraviolet light onto a cut section of the aforesaid layer. The invention also includes a method of re-treading a tire where the fluorescent layer is interior to the tread, and detecting the fluorescence of the layer is a signal to cease tread removal operations. In one to embodiment of the invention, the tire has at least one steel belt, and the fluorescent layer is a tape covering the edge of the belt. In another embodiment of the invention, the tire is a non-pneumatic tire. In one embodiment of the invention, a different fluorescent dye is used in at least two interior layers of the tire.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a camouflage tire suitable for use in various vehicle use environments wherein it is desirable to reduce or eliminate a viewer's visual perception of the tire against the given environmental background.
Abstract:
A self-seal tire according to the present invention has a puncture sealing layer located all over a tire inner wall surface from one shoulder portion to the other shoulder portion of a pneumatic tire. The puncture sealing layer comprises at least one band-shape seal layer, which includes a band-shape sponge layer and a bonding layer, the band-shape sponge layer being impregnated with an adhesive so that it is exposed on a tier wall surface side face of the band-shape sponge layer and spaced apart from a tire counter wall surface side face thereof, and the bonding layer being made of adhesive and provided on the tire wall surface side face. The band-shape seal layer is bonded through the bonding layer on the tire inner wall surface with the band-shape seal layer being wound in a circumferential direction of the tire.
