    摘要: An entirely aqueous method for concentrating water soluble polysaccharides having molecular weights of at least about 50 kDa. The method comprises evaporating a water soluble polysaccharide-containing solution until surface film formation occurs, and harvesting the resulting film which is enriched in the polysaccharide. The polysaccharide may be of plant or animal origin, and includes polysaccharides such as guar gum, xanthan gum and pectin.

    摘要: Aminoalkyl glucosaminide phosphate (AGP) compounds that are adjuvants and immunoeffectors are described and claimed. The compounds have a 2-deoxy-2-amino glucose in glycosidic linkage with an aminoalkyl (aglycon) group. Compounds are phosphorylated at the 4 or 6 carbon on the glucosaminide ring and comprise three 3-alkanoyloxyalkanoyl residues. The compounds augment antibody production in immunized animals as well as stimulate cytokine production and activate macrophages. Methods for using the compounds as adjuvants and immunoeffectors are also disclosed.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a novel Enterobacter sp. strain SSYL deposited under accession number KCTC 0687BP isolated from the root bark of Chinese elm, which produces immunostimulating exopolysaccharides with anticancer activity, a process for preparing the exopolysaccharides by fermenting the said microorganism in a culture medium, exopolysaccharides prepared by the process and their uses thereof. The exopolysaccharides of the invention have a molecular weight of 100,000 to 1,000,000 and consist of 40-75% of total sugar, 5-15% of total acidic sugar and 10-25% of total protein. The exopolysaccharides exhibits a high immunoenhancing activity in immune cell proliferation, direct mitogenicity and mixed lymphocyte reaction, and further a high anticancer activity in vivo by virtue of immunostimulation. Moreover, the production of the exopolysaccharides by fermentation of a microorganism, makes it possible to provide the exopolysaccharides with a uniform quality and mass production without destruction of the plant species. The exopolysaccharides of the subject invention have practical uses as an active ingredient for anticancer agents, immunoenhancers and foodstuffs.

    摘要: The invention relates to DNA sequences coding for proteins having the enzymatic activity of an amylosucrase which allows the synthesis of linear &agr;-1,4 glucans from the substrate sucrose by bacteria, fungi and plants or in cell-free systems. The invention furthermore describes plasmids and bacteria containing these DNA sequences as well as processes for the production of plants and microorganisms capable of intracellularly or extracellularly expressing a polypeptide having amylosucrase activity.
