摘要: The present invention relates to a process for the production of polyunsaturated fatty acids in an organism by introducing, into the organism, nucleic acids which encode polypeptides with Δ5-elongase activity. Advantageously, these nucleic acids can be expressed in the organism together with further nucleic acids which encode polypeptides of the biosynthesis of the fatty acid or lipid metabolism. Especially advantageous are nucleic acids which encode Δ6-desaturases, Δ5-desaturases, Δ4-desaturases and/or Δ6-elongases. These desaturases and elongases are advantageously derived from Thalassiosira, Euglena or Ostreococcus. The invention furthermore relates to a process for the production of oils and/or triacylglycerides with an elevated content of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, and oils and/or triacylglycerides thus obtained. The invention also relates to the nucleic acids, and constructs, vectors and transgenic organisms comprising the same, as well as oils, lipids and/or fatty acids produced by the process according to the invention and to their use.

摘要: This disclosure provides a protein oleogel comprising plant protein dispersed in a liquid oil phase. The oleogel has a microstructure in the form of fibrils, sheets, or other particles with a high aspect ratio that are substantially not interconnected. It can be manufactured by a process that includes solubilizing and denaturing the protein in an aqueous liquid, flash freezing and drying the protein, and then gradually and gently adding a suitable oil or oil mixture. The protein microstructure releases some but not all of the oil when heated. The oleogel forms a spreadable emulsion in an aqueous liquid that is stable for at least six weeks without evidence of creaming. The oleogel may substitute for oils and fats of animal origin in food, food ingredients, cosmetics, and personal care products. This lessens the impact of food manufacturing on the environment, which helps mitigate climate change.

摘要: Aspects of the present invention provide methods of drying lecithin in a batch reaction, comprising the steps of obtaining a lecithin-containing material (derived from a crude refining stream) comprising 15-50% water, 10-30% acetone insoluble matter, and 10-20% free fatty acid; adding a fatty acid source (also derived from a crude refining stream) to the lecithin-containing material composition to obtain a lecithin/fatty acid reaction mixture; and blowing dry gas through the gum/fatty acid reaction mixture to obtain a resultant dried lecithin fatty acid blend having a water content of less than 2%. The resultant dried lecithin fatty acid blend may be used in asphalt or oil field applications.

The method produces a composition containing a β-form fat and/or oil whose particles have a plate-like shape.
