摘要: A method of pleating a fabric, the method comprising pleating the fabric with a first pleating process to create a first set of pleats in the fabric along a first axis; pleating the fabric with a second pleating process to create a second set of pleats in the fabric along a second axis different to the first axis, wherein the second set of pleats are pleated over the first set of pleats, and wherein the first set of pleats is a set of in-plane pleats lying substantially in the plane of the fabric and the second set of pleats is a set of out-of-plane pleats which stand out of the plane of the fabric.

摘要: A window shade comprising a base sheet-like material, such as a fabric, (1) which hangs vertically from a roller and to which is attached, by parallel narrow attachment means at intervals, a second sheet-like material of a decorative character (3) which is longer between its attachments (2) to the first material (1). If there is sufficiently excess decorative material (3) between lines of attachment (2), it folds twice between lines of attachment (2) when such a shade is rolled up. When the shade unrolls, the decorative material (3) flexes out from the base material (1) because of its greater length and forms an air-filled cell. Vertically arranged strips of these cells (18) may be formed on a single base sheet, with each strip unique in various ways to obtain a decorative effect. The shades may also be made of strips of material running the width of the shade. Decorative material which does not crease or fold tightly may be attached to the face of flexible material on a cell-by-cell basis. Variations in the dimensions of groups of cells can cause them to create decorative patterns of different types when they are viewed collectively.

摘要: An apparatus and method for forming parallel and non-parallel pleats in a fabric structure such as a curtain or drape includes a generally planar baseplate and a segmented forming member hingedly attached thereto and overlying the baseplate. The segmented forming member includes a first template and at least one second template which are hingedly connected together, each of the first and second templates having a leading edge and a trailing edge wherein the first template trailing edge is hingedly connected to the baseplate and wherein the second template trailing edge is hingedly connected to the first template such that a portion of the second template overlies a portion of the first template and such that the first template leading edge and such that a pocket a fabric-forming pocket is defines between the first template leading edge and the second template trailing edge. In forming a pleated fabric structure, a piece of fabric is placed onto the baseplate in alignment with and aligned with a first alignment edge thereof and the first template of the segmented forming member is folded over the fabric. The fabric is then formed folded up over the first template leading edge and into the pocket formed between the first and second templates. The fabric is folded for a second time along the second template trailing edge portion of the pocket and second template is folded on top of the fabric fold and the pleats so formed are sewn together. The baseplate may include a cutoff portion where the folded fabric, or pleats, maybe stitched together. After stitching, the fabric structure can be easily pulled away from the space between the segmented forming member and the baseplate.

摘要: The present disclosure pertains to a pleat making device used to create pleats of fabric while the pleat making device is mounted to clothing. The pleat making device can have a frame for supporting the fabric, a fabric securing member for securing the fabric to the frame, and a segment frame hinge that allows for the rotation of a plurality of segment frames around an axis.

摘要: A method for forming stable pleats on a fabric composed of a polylactic acid yarn of 100 mass % without causing decrease in physical properties of the polylactic acid yarn includes preparing a fabric composed of a polylactic acid yarn of 100 mass %. The fabric may be a raw fabric such as a woven raw fabric or a sewed product into which a raw fabric is sewed. The sewed product may be one in which part of clothing is sewed, or a final product. The fabric is folded up, and imparted a pressure in the folded state. Specifically, the folded fabric is passed under a suitable line pressure between a pair of rolls whose surfaces are heated in atmospheric ambience. The surface temperature of the rolls is about 100 to 130° C. As described above, a pleated fabric such as pleated clothing whose folded-up portion becomes stable pleats can be obtained.

摘要: A laminated tubular fibrous structure is produced using a tubular braid and folding over its wall in order to form corrugations or wrinkles superposed in axial direction. The tubular braid is brought over a mandrel of which the inner diameter corresponds to that of the structure to be produced, by causing the braid to pass around a forming head which is mounted on the mandrel and of which the outer diameter corresponds to that of the structure to be produced, and at least one yarn is wound following a helicoidal path on the braid, around the mandrel and at the front of the forming head, between said head and a counter-piece of which the faces in facing relationship have shapes corresponding to the shape of the wrinkles to be produced, the winding of the yarn being performed while the forming head is moving away from the counter-piece progressively with the formation of the wrinkles. The structure is particularly suitable for use as reinforcing structure for producing pieces in composite material, such as ablative thermal protections for solid propellant rocket motors.
