An article of apparel may include a textile element that defines a crease. The textile element may be knitted to have a first course and a second course that are adjacent to each other in some areas of the textile element and spaced from each other by a raised course in other areas of the textile element. The crease extends along the third course and has a length that is substantially equal to a length of the third course. In manufacturing the textile element, the raised course may be formed between portions of the first course and the second course through a knitting process, such as a flat knitting process.

A cover for covering a flower pot is provided. The cover includes a planar base, a sidewall extending from an outer periphery of the base, and a securing member for securing the sidewall to the flower pot. The sidewall is movable relative to the base between a substantially flattened position wherein the sidewall is in a substantially coplanar relation with respect to the base and an upright position wherein the sidewall and the base cooperate to define a pot receiving space. The sidewall has a plurality of folds formed therein so as to cause the sidewall to take a predetermined shape upon moving the sidewall from the flattened position to the upright position.

A window shade comprising a base sheet-like material, such as a fabric, (1) which hangs vertically from a roller and to which is attached, by parallel narrow attachment means at intervals, a second sheet-like material of a decorative character (3) which is longer between its attachments (2) to the first material (1). If there is sufficiently excess decorative material (3) between lines of attachment (2), it folds twice between lines of attachment (2) when such a shade is rolled up. When the shade unrolls, the decorative material (3) flexes out from the base material (1) because of its greater length and forms an air-filled cell. Vertically arranged strips of these cells (18) may be formed on a single base sheet, with each strip unique in various ways to obtain a decorative effect. The shades may also be made of strips of material running the width of the shade. Decorative material which does not crease or fold tightly may be attached to the face of flexible material on a cell-by-cell basis. Variations in the dimensions of groups of cells can cause them to create decorative patterns of different types when they are viewed collectively.

An apparatus and method for forming parallel and non-parallel pleats in a fabric structure such as a curtain or drape includes a generally planar baseplate and a segmented forming member hingedly attached thereto and overlying the baseplate. The segmented forming member includes a first template and at least one second template which are hingedly connected together, each of the first and second templates having a leading edge and a trailing edge wherein the first template trailing edge is hingedly connected to the baseplate and wherein the second template trailing edge is hingedly connected to the first template such that a portion of the second template overlies a portion of the first template and such that the first template leading edge and such that a pocket a fabric-forming pocket is defines between the first template leading edge and the second template trailing edge. In forming a pleated fabric structure, a piece of fabric is placed onto the baseplate in alignment with and aligned with a first alignment edge thereof and the first template of the segmented forming member is folded over the fabric. The fabric is then formed folded up over the first template leading edge and into the pocket formed between the first and second templates. The fabric is folded for a second time along the second template trailing edge portion of the pocket and second template is folded on top of the fabric fold and the pleats so formed are sewn together. The baseplate may include a cutoff portion where the folded fabric, or pleats, maybe stitched together. After stitching, the fabric structure can be easily pulled away from the space between the segmented forming member and the baseplate.

A covering is particularly suited for use in a machine for producing and/or finishing a paper, cardboard, tissue or pulp web. The covering has a basic structure formed as a part of a flat woven material, which flat woven material is designed as a woven material by interlacing warp threads and weft threads. The portion of the flat woven material has a plurality of sections that are formed integrally with each other, with at least one property of one of the sections differing from the respective property of at least one adjacent section.

A method of manufacturing a pleated product capable of partially pleating a fabric so that boundaries between pleat portions and non-pleat portions can be conspicuous and a fabric for the pleated product used for the method. In this method, a part of the fabric for the pleated product (1) in which one of warp (2) and weft (3) is formed of easy-to-pleat yarn and the other formed of hard-to-pleat yarn is folded along a folding line (4) tilted relative to the warp (2) and the weft (3), the fabric (1) is pleated up to the folding line (4) in the passing direction of the warp (2) or the weft (3), and the fabric (1) is unfolded and washed. Effective pleats are formed only in the passing direction of the easy-to-pleat yarn on a plane on one side of the folded portion and not formed in the passing direction of the hard-to-pleat yarn on a plane on the other side of the folded portion. The pleats in the passing direction of the hard-to-pleat yarn are eliminated by a washing step to form a non-pleat portion (5b), and the pleats formed on the passing direction of the easy-to-pleat yarn form a pleat portion (5a) in which the pleat lines are firmly shaped up to the folding line.

A wall covering system including a pleated material, and the method of producing and installing the plated material. The pleated material includes a plurality of permanently fixed pleats extending in substantially parallel vertical relation to each other. Each pleat includes first and second pleat panels having first ends fixed by a securing line and opposing second ends defining an apex. The apex extends outwardly away from the wall as each pleat converges toward a center line extending between upper and lower portions of each pleat. The method of producing the pleated material includes passing a planar material successively through a pleating die and a securing device to initially form a plurality of pleats simultaneously and thereafter secure the plurality of pleats simultaneously.
