An extensible shell can define an interior for holding granular construction material and define a first opening at a first end for receiving the granular construction material into the interior and a second opening at a second end. The extensible shell can be flexible such that the shell expands when granular construction material is compacted in the interior of the shell. A method may include positioning the extensible shell in the ground and filling at least a portion of the interior of the shell with the granular construction material. The granular construction material may be compacted in the interior of the extensible shell to form a support pier.

    摘要: Disclosed is a construction method of a foundation for an underwater support structure, which is capable of rapidly installing the foundation of a large-scale structure on a sea floor, and also sufficiently ensuring a horizontal load supporting capability. The construction method includes installing a pile having a head part, in which a catching groove is formed, in a sea floor G; fabricating the foundation for the underwater support structure, in which a buried guide tube is formed to protrude downwardly from a lower surface of the foundation for an underwater support structure, and settling the foundation for the underwater support structure on the sea floor, such that the head part of the pile is inserted into the guide tube; and anchoring the pile into the guide tube using an elastically protruding settlement device formed in the guide tube.

To build the foundation, a foundation bed is excavated, and a stable, substantially level and horizontal subbase is built in the foundation bed. A foundation segment of the structure is set down on the subbase, such that at least three vertically adjustable support poles fixedly attached to the foundation segment contact reinforced points of support on the subbase. A remainder of the foundation bed is then filled with foundation mass to a level above a bottom rim of the foundation segment.

    摘要: Compression of soft subsoils to support loads such as roadways, widened roadways, etc. with conventionally accomplished product piling surcharge onto the subsoils for a time long enough to compress them. The speed and undesirable compression (which often causes interference with aquifers) can be avoided by installing isolation slabs supported at or near the grade of the subsoil by caps resting on piles driven to sufficient depths to support the intended load. Fill can then be placed on the isolating slabs without the undesirable compression of the subsoil.

    摘要: A system and method for widening a highway and supporting a sound wall is provided that includes a single row of caissons for providing the sole foundation of a breast wall and a sound wall. The caissons include a vertically-oriented network of reinforcing steel, an upper portion of which is integrated into the steel reinforcing network of a cast-in-place breast wall. The sound wall is mounted on and supported by the top ends of the caissons and serves to obstruct the transmission of sound from the highway. The vertically-oriented reinforcing members of the caissons are spaced away from the center portion of each caisson in two opposing groups in order to maximize its bending strength in a direction orthogonal to the highway, which is the primary direction in which cut earth, compacted fill material, and winds apply bending moments to the breast wall and sound wall. The use of a single row of caissons having a high bending strength in a direction orthogonal to the highway minimizes the labor and materials necessary to support the breast wall and the sound wall, and advantageously minimizes the amount of space necessary to excavate and construct the foundation.
