    摘要: A self-fixturing fan shroud (12) for use with a heat exchanger assembly (13), the heat exchanger assembly (13) includes an upper horizontal surface (16), a lower, upwardly opening, horizontal channel (18), and at least one core (14 or 15) extending between the upper horizontal surface (16) and the channel (18). Each of the cores (14 and 15) has a front face (24), a back face (26), and air flow passages extending from the front face (24) to the back face (26). The fan shroud (12) comprises a covering portion (28) having an opening (30) disposed therethrough. The opening (30) is of a predetermined size sufficient to receive a fan. An upper horizontal flange (38) extends from the covering portion (28) to rest on the upper horizontal surface (16) of the heat exchanger assembly (13) to vertically locate the fan shroud (12) relative to the heat exchanger assembly (13). A lower vertical flange (40) extends downwardly from the covering portion (28) to be received in the lower horizontal channel (18) of the heat exchanger assembly (13) to restrict movement of the fan shroud (12) away from the heat exchanger assembly (13).

    摘要: Fan efficiency problems are substantially reduced in a cooling system having a plurality of heat exchangers (10), (18), (20), (22) positioned with respect to each other to define a housing in the form of a polygonal solid with certain of the heat exchangers being employed in heat exchange fluid while others may be utilized to cool one or more other heat exchange fluids different from the first. A radial fan (42) is disposed within a space (26) within the housing and provided with blades (52) for flowing air generally radially outward through the heat exchangers (10), (18), (20), (22). The ratio of the location of the center line (d) of the fan blade outer edges (56) with respect to the front (30) of the heat exchanger to the diameter (D) of the fan (42) at the outer edges (56) is in the range of about 0.20 to about 0.36.

    摘要: There is provided an apparatus and method for a single piece integrated front module housing for an internal combustion engine, which decreases engine complexity, manufacturing time and production costs. The front module housing comprises a thermostat housing, a water pump housing, at least one coolant passage, an oil pump housing, and at least one oil passage. The front module housing further comprises a power steering pump mounting, an oil pressure regulating valve housing, at least one support boss member, an at least one sensor housing. There is provided a method for an integrated one-piece front module housing, comprising the steps of forming a front module housing casting mold and cores, forming the front module housing via introduction of molten material into the mold, removing the front module housing from the mold and removing the casting core from the cast front module housing, and finishing the front module housing.
