摘要： The fastener of the present invention is made to be shaved flush with a surface. The fastener is made such that some visually or mechanically detectable indicator reveals if too much material has been removed from the head of the fastener during the shaving process. The fastener and its method of use contemplates several means of indicating if too much material has been removed from the head of the fastener. These means include either tightly controlling the height of the fastener head or adding features to the head, land, or countersink of the fastener which indicate if an excessive amount of material has been removed.

In a preferred embodiment, the flexible fastener may be used to couple members that are non-parallel, non-aligned, or in specific instances when selective compliance in a member is desired. The present invention is directed generally to a fastener that is laterally flexible along its length, comprising a shank covered with a spiral set of teeth and a flexible core material running internally to the shank and along the length of the shank, wherein the shank and the flexible core material are coupled at both distal ends of the fastener. In a preferred embodiment, a means for imparting rotational movement to the fastener is attached at a distal end. The preferred means are a bolt head and a screw head.

摘要： The invention provides an improved Winged Fastener in which a large threaded nut is movably engaged with the threaded sleeve of the Winged Fastener wherein the nut is movable set in a washer such that the washer is placed against a surface, while the sleeve of the winged bolt is placed in a bore in a first matrix and a second matrix is set around the sleeve of the Winged Bolt. As the nut is turned on the threaded sleeve, the second matrix which is placed around the threaded sleeve is caused to be compressed and radially moved outward toward an inner surface of the first matrix. If the second matrix is of a rigid material, the cylinder of matrix is split longitudinally and the pieces are driven radially outward. The invention also provides a second improved Winged Fastener in which a hole is placed in a wing and a cable or tendon is attached to the wing through the hole. The threaded shaft of the Winged Fastener is placed in a threaded nut which is movably set in a washer such that the washer is placed against a matrix and the shaft and wings of the winged bolt are placed in a bore through the matrix. The opposite end of the cable or tendon is anchored deep in the bore and as the nut is turned around the threaded shaft, the Winged Bolt is retracted into the nut and tension is placed on the cable.

摘要： A fastener such as a set screw which is used for clamping materials. The set screw has an aperture provided at one end thereof for acceptance of a tightening means. An opposite end of the set screw has an aperture which is capable of accepting a shaft portion of a pin member. A head portion of the pin member is positioned outside of the aperture at an end of the set screw and has a point surface which clamps against the materials to be clamped. Upon rotation of the set screw by the tightening means, the pin member also rotates. The pin member continues to rotate with the set screw until the point contacts the material to be clamped. Continued rotation of the set screw forces the pin member to clamp the material, without rotating, such that the material engaged by the pin member will not be damaged during the rotation of the set screw to its final position.
