摘要: A differential drive has a drivable differential carrier rotatably supported in a differential housing. Two axle shaft gears are rotatably held in cylindrical bores in the differential carrier. The axle shaft gears are coaxially arranged relative to each other. A plurality of differential gears are supported in bores in the differential carrier. The axle shaft gears rotate with the differential gears and are arranged axis-parallel. One group of the differential gears engage one of the axle shaft gears and another group of differential gears engage the other of the axle shaft gears. Each of the one group of the differential gears engage at least one of the other group of differential gears to achieve an uneven torque distribution between the axle shaft gears. Also, both the axle shaft gears have substantially equal rolling circle diameters and equal outer diameters and at least the gears of the one group of differential gears have two axially different regions with different rolling circle diameters. One of two regions engages one of the axle shaft gears and the other one engages at least one of the other group of differential gears.

摘要: A differential apparatus includes a differential casing, a pair of helical side gears and a pairs of helical pinion gears. The helical pinion gears are accommodated in bores formed in the differential casing, respectively. When it is expected that a helix angle of tooth trace of the helical pinion gear would be decreased by the vehicle's driving, one of the helical pinion gears is formed in advance so that the tooth depths are gradually decreased from axial ends of the helical pinion gear toward the axial intermediate potion. Conversely, when it is expected that a helix angle of tooth trace of the pinion gear would be increased by the vehicle's driving, one of the helical pinion gears is formed in advance so that the tooth depths are gradually increased from the axial ends of the helical pinion gear toward the axial intermediate potion. With the arrangement, even if the helical pinion gears are slanted, the helical pinion gear can be in uniform contact with the bore over the whole tooth width, so that it is possible to prevent an occurrence of the eccentric abrasion and seizure.

摘要: A limited slip differential gear that is simple in construction, small in size and light in weight is provided. The limited slip differential gear includes a pair of divided gear cases that are turned by a driving force of an engine. A pressure ring provided in one of the gear cases is movable in the direction of the wheel axles. Pinion shafts each have an end that is freely engageably supported between the pressure ring and the gear cases. Pinion gears are turnably supported by the pinion shafts. A pair of side gears mesh with the pinion gears positioned therebetween to transmit the driving force to both wheel axles. A multiple disc clutch mechanism provided between one of the gear cases, the side gears and the pressure ring limits differential motion of the side gears when the pressure ring is moved in an axial outward direction.

摘要: A pair of differential side gears are splined to separate driven shafts that rotate the driven wheels of a vehicle. Rotation of a driven shaft is transmitted through a differential case and spider gears to the side gears. The side gears are rotatably mounted on a thrust assembly. Belleville spring assemblies exert a biasing force upon interleaved clutch plates alternately splined to the case and the side gears. Upon the occurrence of an unequal torque distribution between the driven shafts the gear separating forces exerted by the spider gears upon the side gears become imbalanced. The side gear associated with the driven shaft of the wheel having reduced traction is displaced axially toward the spider gears. This axial movement is transmitted through the thrust assembly to the side gear associated with the driven shaft of the wheel having the greater traction to axially move the side gear and compress the clutch plates to frictionally engage the case and the side gear. Rotation is transmitted from the case through the clutch plates to the side gear to increase the torque of the driven shaft of the wheel having the greater traction and thereby rotate the wheel having the greater traction.

摘要: Frictional resistance, resulting from end thrust developed by planetary gearing, is appreciably increased in parallel-axis/torque-proportioning types of automotive differentials to improve torque bias characteristics. A pair of sun gears receive, respectively, the ends of coaxial drive axles, and the sun gears are interconnected by at least one planetary pair of combination gears positioned in the housing circumferentially around the sun gears. Each combination gear of the pair has a first engagement portion that is in mesh with a respective one of the sun gears, and each also has a second engagement portion that is in mesh with its paired combination gear. The first engagement portion of each combination gear is designed to develop end thrust on the combination gear to increase the frictional resistance between an end face of the gear and a bearing surface of the housing whenever the differential is subjected to a torque difference between its respective sun gears; and the gear's second engagement portion is specifically designed so that it develops either (a) no end thrust in a direction opposite to the direction of the end thrust developed by the first engagement portion or (b) end thrust in the same direction.

摘要: A steering mechanism with time derivation wherein a servo member dependent upon an angular velocity of a steering wheel is connected in the manner of a gear system by means of a summing gear mechanism with a servo member dependent on an angle of the steering wheel turn and also with a servo member dependent on an angle of the wheel turn of steered vehicle wheels. A gear element of the summing gear mechanism pertaining to the servo member dependent on the angular velocity is supported toward a housing by way of a resilient support. The servo member dependent on the angular velocity is positively turned off with respect to its action on the summing gear mechanism if the steering wheel angle exceeds a specific limiting angle.

摘要: A differential apparatus (7) comprises: a differential casing (21) rotated by an engine power; a plurality of pinion gears (65, 66) slidably housed in accommodation holes (63, 64) formed in the differential casing: a pair of side gears (35, 37) geared with each other via the pinion gears, two opposing end surfaces thereof being slid relative to other either directly or via a thrust washer (61); and a block member (47, 91, 97) interposed between two inner circumferential surfaces of the two side gears so as to center the side gears, respectively. In particular, at least one oil sump (77, 79; 95; 101) is formed between the block member and the side gears, to supply lubricant to sliding portions between the block member (47, 91, 97) and the side gears (35, 37) and between two opposing end surfaces of the two side gears, by a centrifugal force generated by the rotating differential casing. Further, it is preferable to further form at least one central oil passage (301, 303, 305) at the centering portion (365) so as to extend from an inner circumferential side to an outer circumferential side of the boss portions (357, 359) of the two side gears (353, 355). Further, it is also preferable to form at least two radial oil passages (881, 885; 977, 978) between inner wall surfaces of the differential casing (821, 921) and the side gears (835, 837; 939, 941), respectively in such a way that a radially inward end thereof communicates with the helical oil passage (877, 879; 979L, 979R) and a radially outward end thereof communicates with sliding portion between the side gear and the differential casing, respectively.
