    摘要: An automotive driveline unit housing can be that of a power transfer unit (PTU), a final drive unit (FDU), or a rear drive unit (RDU). The automotive driveline unit housing has a lubricant feed passage spanning from an inlet to an outlet. The outlet can be situated near a seal of the automotive driveline unit, near a bearing of the unit, near both the seal and bearing, or near another component. The lubricant feed passage can have a flow restrictor located near its outlet. When the unit is in a connected state, lubricant is received in the lubricant feed passage via a spinning gear of the unit. The received lubricant trickles through the flow restrictor. And when the unit is in a disconnected state, lubricant continues to trickle through the flow restrictor, even though lubricant may no longer be received in the lubricant feed passage via the gear.

    摘要: A lubricating assembly that is configured as part of a lubricating system that flings, or slings, fluid lubricants about the interior of rotating machinery. In one embodiment, the lubricating assembly includes a bearing clamp member with a clamp body having an outer peripheral edge that has an annular profile that partially circumscribes a longitudinal axis. The annular profile can have first annular section with a first clamp surface and a second clamp surface disposed in opposing relation about a centerline and spaced apart from one another to form a first annular gap. At the bottom of the clamp body, the bearing clamp member is configured with a peripheral wall that bounds a reservoir region. This configuration allows the fluid lubricants to gravity feed through the first annular gap into the reservoir region to retain a volume of the captured lubricant to lubricate moving parts of the lubricating system.

    摘要: A power transmission apparatus is capable of easily passing lubricant toward a seal arranged between a higher shat and an opening of a case of the apparatus. The apparatus includes the higher shaft, i.e., a hollow connecting shaft that faces the outside of the transfer case through the opening of the transfer case. The oil seal is arranged between the hollow shaft and the opening of the transfer case. The hollow shaft meshes, through helical spur gears, with an intermediate transferring shaft that is positioned lower than the hollow shaft. A lubricant guide is arranged to receive lubricant splashed up by the ring gear and helical spur gear of the intermediate shaft and guide the received lubricant toward the oil seal and a ball bearing.

    摘要: An improved lubrication system for a two-stroke engine having a lubrication path from an oil sump directly to an induction valve assembly for noise reduction. The oil sump is divided into two chambers with a restricted passage therebetween to ensure lubrication of transmission gears upon startup while reducing drag during operation. A cross-drilled lubrication passage through each crankshaft throw terminates in a second passage proximate a dead-end plug, the second passage being in communication with the piston rod bearing. Each piston skirt includes at least one axial groove in registration with an oil supply passage. Circumferential grooves distribute the oil around the piston skirt from the axial grooves. The pistons may include ceramic top layers for heat insulation to increase the compression ratio possible by raising the ring positions. The engine incorporates an air/oil mixture separator within a balancer shaft chamber and air from the chamber is directed to the intake system.
