The electric motor driven lubrication pump is at least selectively energized to control the measured lubricant pressure to a predetermined minimum pressure at least when the ram air turbine is deployed and the rotational speed exceeds the predetermined value.

The disclosed lubrication system can be applied relatively high temperature operating environments, relatively low temperature operating environments, or both. The lubrication system includes a tank operable to contain lubricant and having at least one tank outlet. The lubrication system also includes a tube extending between first and second ends. The first end of the tube is in fluid communication with at least one tank outlet. The lubrication system also includes an atomizer in fluid communication with the second end of the tube to receive lubricant from the tank. The atomizer is operable to dispense atomized lubricant on the component. The tank, the tube, and the atomizer are all adjacent to the component. A method for practicing the invention is also disclosed.

    摘要: A sump and filter assembly is provided that includes a sump component and a filter component operatively connected with the sump component. The sump component has an inlet receivable of fluid and a capacity for fluid. The filter component is configured to filter fluid from the sump component and has an outlet enabling release of fluid from the assembly. The sump and filter components define a fluid pathway between the inlet and outlet. The fluid pathway enables fluid entering the inlet to flow from the sump component and through the filter component to the outlet. The sump and filter combination provides an assembly that would contain most of the oil capacity function together with the filtration function in one package. As a result, a lubrication filtration system may be quickly serviced in a cleaner environment.

    摘要: An oil return passage for returning oil from a cylinder head to an oil pan is arranged along the downward first side surface of an engine that is mounted in a vehicle such that a center axis of a cylinder thereof is slanted with respect to a vertical direction of the vehicle. An oil return extension pipe is coupled to an outlet end of the oil return passage, and extends toward a second side surface of the engine that is opposite from the first side surface on which the oil return passage is provided. Thus, engine oil can be reliably returned to the oil pan from the cylinder head of the engine even when the vehicle is experiencing high acceleration in a direction that tends to cause backflow of the oil through the engine oil return system.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for lubricating an internal-combustion engine includes a shaft extending through a gearbox, a gear and a sliding sleeve coupled to rotate with the shaft and adapted to move axially along the shaft, a gearshift fork in mating engagement with the sliding sleeve and moveable parallel to the shaft, a rib in the gearbox adjacent the shaft, and a duct extending into the gearbox. The duct preferably directs a lubricant onto the gearshift fork and the sliding sleeve. Preferably, the rib directs the lubricant from the duct onto the gearshift fork and the sliding sleeve. In an alternative embodiment, at least some of the lubricant flung from the shaft, gear, and sliding sleeve contacts the rib and is directed onto the sliding sleeve and the gearshift fork. Further preferably, a projection extends from the rib to direct the lubricant onto the sliding sleeve and the gearshift fork.

    摘要: A first chain mechanism for transmitting the rotation of a crankshaft of an vertical engine to a camshaft and a second chain mechanism for transmitting the rotation of the crankshaft to a balancer shaft are forcibly lubricated by an oil injected by first, second and third oil jets mounted within a chain chamber. The first, second and third oil jets are disposed at locations closer to the crankshaft, the cam shaft and the balancer shaft, respectively, and the first and second oil jets are disposed inside a travel locus for a timing chain. Thus, the chain mechanisms disposed in a plane of the vertical engine can be lubricated effectively.
