    Abstract: A rotor assembly for a rotary wing aircraft includes a rotor hub including a hub arm and a central opening. The rotor assembly further includes a hydraulic actuation cylinder positioned in the central opening, a pitch change shaft assembly including a pitch change shaft positioned partially within the hydraulic actuation cylinder, a pitch beam coupled to a distal end of the pitch change shaft and configured to be coupled to a rotor blade rotatably mounted to the hub arm.     Abstract: A wind estimation system for an aircraft includes a first sensor configured to sense a first position associated with an aircraft control component in a wind condition, a second sensor configured to sense a first configuration associated with a rotor system of the aircraft in the wind condition, and at least one controller in communication with at least one of the first sensor or the second sensor. The at least one controller is configured to determine a tip-path-plane angle of the aircraft based on the first position and the first configuration, and determine at least one of a current wind speed or current wind direction based on the tip-path-plane angle.

    Abstract: Provided herein are various enhanced systems, apparatuses, and techniques for optical communication among a constellation of satellites. One example includes establishing an initial cross-connect configuration comprising optical communication links among a constellation of satellites. In the initial cross-connect configuration, the satellites can optically communicate with both adjacently positioned and non-adjacently positioned satellites in the constellation. The satellites obtain angular states of the optical communication links resultant from orbital motion of the satellites. When angular states of a portion of the optical communication links reach an exclusion range, the satellites establish a subsequent cross-connect configuration to avoid optically communicating within the exclusion range.

    Abstract: A system includes a first structure having an upper surface coupled to a second structure by a fastener assembly including a bushing positioned within an opening in the upper surface of the first structure. An inner opening of the bushing defines an inner diameter, and a fastener is at least partially positioned within the bushing. An outer surface of the fastener defines an outer diameter of the fastener. The bushing and the fastener are configured such that a space between the outer surface of the fastener and the inner opening of the bushing defines a gap which increases in size in a direction extending from the upper surface to the lower surface of the first structure.

    Abstract: According to an embodiment, a method includes removing a last feed forward layer from a pre-trained neural network. The method further includes appending the pre-trained neural network with a secondary last feed forward layer configured to output a plurality of parameters. The method further includes updating each one of the plurality of parameters by: 1) multiplying each one of the plurality of parameters by a first factor to produce a plurality of resultant parameters; and 2) adding a second term to each one of the plurality of resultant parameters, wherein both the first factor and the second term vary due to backpropagation. The method further includes using a loss function to determine the distance between a known class embedding and an input from an input dataset. Lastly, the method includes updating one or more weights associated with the number of variables in the pre-trained neural network.
